\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen we began our research on Disneyland, we were very interested\r\nin traffic patterns throughout the park, specifically these issues:
\r\n\r\nWhen guests are admitted to the various lands, the flow of people to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge as people will want to experience Disneyland's newest land and rides. The next most popular land is Tomorrowland (Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage). The next most crowded land is Fantasyland, though the crowds are distributed over a large number of attractions. Critter Country is likewise crowded with its small area and only two attractions (Splash Mountain and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh). Adventureland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square fill\r\nmore slowly, with Mickey’s Toontown not really coming alive until\r\nlater in the morning. As the park fills, visitors appear to head for specific\r\nfavored attractions that they wish to ride before the lines get long.\r\nThis, more than any other factor, determines traffic patterns in the\r\nmornings and accounts for the relatively equal distribution of visitors\r\nthroughout Disneyland.
\r\n\r\nA surge of early birds arrives before or around opening time\r\nbut is quickly dispersed throughout the empty park. After the initial\r\nonslaught is absorbed, there is a bit of a lull that lasts until about an hour\r\nafter opening. Following the lull, the park is inundated with arriving guests for about 2 hours, peaking 10–11 a.m. Guests continue to arrive\r\nin a steady but diminishing stream until around 2 p.m.
\r\n\r\nSampled lines reached their longest length noon–3 p.m., indicating\r\nmore arrivals than departures in the early afternoon. For general touring\r\npurposes, most attractions develop substantial lines 9:30–11 a.m.\r\nIn the early morning, Tomorrowland, Critter Country, and Fantasyland\r\nfill up first. By late morning and into early afternoon, attendance\r\nis fairly equally distributed throughout all of the “lands.” Mickey’s\r\nToontown, because it is comparatively small, stays mobbed from\r\nabout 11:30 a.m. on. By midafternoon, however, we noted a concentration\r\nof visitors in Fantasyland, New Orleans Square, and Adventureland,\r\nand a slight decrease of visitors in Tomorrowland.
\r\n\r\nIn the late afternoon and early evening, attendance continues to\r\nbe more heavily distributed in Tomorrowland, Critter Country, and\r\nFantasyland.\r\nThough Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters,\r\nSplash Mountain, and Star Tours remain inundated throughout the day,\r\nmost of the other attractions in Tomorrowland\r\nand Critter Country have\r\nreasonable lines. In New Orleans Square, The Haunted Mansion, Pirates\r\nof the Caribbean, and the multitudes returning from nearby Critter\r\nCountry keep traffic brisk. Frontierland (except Big Thunder Mountain\r\nRailroad) and Adventureland (except Indiana Jones Adventure) become\r\nless congested as the afternoon and evening progress.
\r\n\r\nMany first-time visitors accompany friends or relatives\r\nwho are familiar with Disneyland and who guide their tour. These\r\ntours sometimes do and sometimes do not proceed in an orderly (clockwise\r\nor counterclockwise) touring sequence. First-time visitors without\r\npersonal touring guidance tend to be more orderly in their touring.\r\nMany first-time visitors, however, are drawn to Sleeping Beauty Castle\r\non entering the park and thus commence their rotation from Fantasyland.\r\nRepeat visitors usually proceed directly to their favorite attractions or\r\nto whatever is new.
\r\n\r\n\r\nSpecial events such\r\nas parades, fireworks, and Fantasmic! pull substantial numbers of visitors\r\nfrom the lines for rides. Unfortunately, however, the left hand taketh\r\nwhat the right hand giveth. A parade or Fantasmic! snarls traffic flow\r\nthroughout Disneyland so much that guests find themselves captive\r\nwherever they are. Attraction lines in Tomorrowland, Mickey’s\r\nToontown, Adventureland, and Fantasyland (behind the castle) diminish\r\ndramatically, making Space Mountain, Finding Nemo Submarine\r\nVoyage, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Star Tours, Jungle Cruise, Indiana\r\nJones Adventure, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Snow White’s Scary Adventures\r\nparticularly good choices during the evening festivities. The remainder\r\nof the park (Critter Country, New Orleans Square, Frontierland, Main\r\nStreet, and Small World Plaza in Fantasyland) is so congested with guests viewing the parade or Fantasmic! that it’s almost impossible to move.\r\nConversely, when Fantasmic! is on hiatus (as it will be through early\r\n2017), the crowds that would otherwise be watching it must go elsewhere,\r\nchiefly toward the parade route and attraction queues.\r\n
\r\n\r\nOn our sample days, which were recorded in and out of season,\r\npark departures outnumbered arrivals beginning in midafternoon,\r\nwith\r\na substantial number of guests leaving after the afternoon parade.\r\nAdditional numbers of visitors departed during the late afternoon as the\r\ndinner hour approached. When the park closed early, there were steady\r\ndepartures during the 2 hours preceding closing, with a mass exodus of\r\nremaining visitors at closing time.
\r\n\r\nWhen the park closed late, departures were distributed throughout\r\nthe evening hours, with waves of departures following the evening\r\nparade(s), fireworks, and Fantasmic! Though departures increased\r\nexponentially as closing time approached, a huge throng was still on\r\nhand when the park finally shut down. The balloon effect of this last\r\nthrong at the end of the day generally overwhelmed the shops on\r\nMain Street, the parking lot, trams, and the hotel shuttles, as well as\r\nthe exits onto adjoining Anaheim streets. In the hour before closing\r\nin the lands other than Main Street, touring conditions were normally\r\nuncrowded except at Indiana Jones Adventure in Adventureland and\r\nSplash Mountain in Critter Country.

The main parking areas are the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking garages, which you can get to directly from I-5, Disneyland Drive, or Ball Road.
The garages are connected to Downtown Disney and the theme parks by Disney trams.
If you'd prefer to walk from the garages, it's about a mile from the garages to the parks' gates. You can cut south to Downtown Disney and use the pedestrian bridge on the Pixar Pals garage's south side to cross over Magic Way and access the sidewalk past the parking lot.
The most convenient parking area is the Toy Story lot south of the corner of Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard, This lot also accommodates oversize vehicles like buses and RVs, with shuttles and walking paths to the parks.
All of the parking areas open about 60 minutes before the parks. But you should try to arrive around 75 minutes before opening to be near the front of the line of cars waiting to park.
No matter how or when you arrive, you'll go through Disney's metal detectors and baggage screening on the ground floor of the garage on the way to the parks.
Once through the entrance turnstiles, you'll begin and end your day on Main Street, U.S.A., a turn-of-the-20th-centrury recreation of small-town America.
Main Street ends at a central hub from which branch the entrances to four other sections of Disneyland: Adventureland , Frontierland, Fantasyland , and Tomorrowland. Two other \"lands\", New Orleans Square and Critter Country, can be reached through Adventureland and Frontierland, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge connects to Critter Country and Frontierland. Mickey’s Toontown is located on the far side of the railroad tracks from It's a Small World in Fantasyland.
Sleeping Beauty Castle, the entrance to Fantasyland, is a focal landmark and the visual center of the park.
The castle is a great place to meet if your group decides to split up during the day, and it can serve as an emergency meeting place if you are accidentally separated.
Keep in mind that the castle is large, so be specific about where to meet at the castle.
Note that parades and live shows sometimes make it difficult to access the entrance of the castle from the central hub. Another good meetting place is the Partners statue of Walt and Mickey, in the central hub.

As much as we also hate Disney's nickle-and-dime-ing, our honest advice is to bite the bullet and buy Genie+ anyway, especially if you plan on park hopping.
In terms of dollars and cents, the cost of Genie+ at Disneyland is roughly $5 to $10 per hour saved - and it gets better if you park hop.
If you are spreading out your resort visit over four or more days, you can probably get away without Genie+, but at Disneyland Park the service is a huge boon even during moderately busy seasons.
Individual Lightning Lane, on the other hand, are more available but far less valuable at Disneyland, and are therefore relatively overpriced. In particular, Rise of the Resistance's Lightning Lane can cost $25+ at Disneyland.
While we endorse buying Genie+, we don't recommend buying Individual Lightning Lane unless you're visiting on a busy day and have to ride Rise of the Resistance.

\r\n\r\nOur advice for Cars Land is to obtain FastPasses for Radiator\r\nSprings Racers as soon as the park opens. If FastPasses are all gone,\r\nconsider using the single-rider line for RSR.
\r\n\r\n\r\nAt Grizzly Peak, Soarin’s wait times start to climb about an hour\r\nafter the park opens and peak 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Once the crowds are in\r\nthe park, Soarin’ will have waits of at least 30–35 minutes for the rest\r\nof the day during most times of year. Next door, wait times at Grizzly\r\nRiver Run are relatively low for the first hour the park is open. During\r\nsummer and warm holidays, lines grow quickly about an hour after\r\nthe park opens, peaking at around noon. Waits grow more slowly\r\nwhen the weather is cooler but still peak around noon. Expect waits\r\nto start dropping around 4 p.m. regardless of the time of year.
\r\n\r\nIn Hollywood Land, waits at Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT!\r\nand Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue usually peak 11 a.m.–\r\nnoon. The wait\r\ntimes at Monsters, Inc. typically drop off at 4 p.m. most days and 6\r\np.m. on holidays.
\r\n\r\n\r\nToward the back of the park, long waits develop fastest at Toy\r\nStory Midway Mania!—still about an hour after the park opens—and\r\npeak by 11 a.m. Like Soarin’ Around the World, Toy Story will remain\r\npopular for the rest of the day, regardless of season. Secondary attractions,\r\nincluding Goofy’s Sky School, won’t\r\nusually be too crowded until about 2 hours after the park opens. Like\r\nthe attractions at Hollywood Land, most lines at B-list Paradise Park\r\nattractions start to drop after 4 p.m. Lines at The Little Mermaid seem\r\nto be low throughout the day and on any day of the year.
\r\n\r\nPark departures begin around 3 p.m., when families with small\r\nchildren start heading home. However, 9-to-5 workers with Annual\r\nPasses start coming into the park around 6 p.m. and generally stay for\r\nthe evening. It’s common to see waits hold steady or even rise from\r\nearly evening until the park closes, undoubtedly because of Cars Land and World of Color.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWorld of Color FastPasses are now generally available until\r\n11 a.m. or noon most days. Guests with World of Color FastPasses\r\nwill begin queuing in the Pacific Wharf, Grizzly Peak, and Paradise\r\nPark walkways about 30 minutes before showtime. The largest wave\r\nof departing guests occurs at the end of World of Color. Just before\r\nclosing, crowd levels are thin except, of course, at Cars Land, Soarin' Around the World, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT.\r\n

THE ENTRANCE TO DCA faces the entrance to Disneyland Park across a brick-paved pedestrian plaza called the Esplanade. If you arrive by tram from one of the Disney parking lots, you'll get dropped off at the Esplanade.
Facing east toward Harbor Boulevard, Disneyland Park will be on your left and DCA will be on your right.
In the Esplanade are ticket booths, the group sales office, and resort information.
Seen from overhead, DCA is roughly arrayed in a fan shape around the park's central visual icon, Grizzly Peak.
Most guests will enter the park by walking through the main entrance at the end of the Esplanade. Once inside the park, you'll walk down Buena Vista Street, which is DCA's version of Main Street, U.S.A.
At the end of Buena Vista Street is a hub, which is the central point from which all of the park's lands radiate.
You'll find seven themed 'lands' at DCA. A left turn at the hub leads you to Hollywood Land, celebrating California's history as the film capital of the world. Grizzly Peak is reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest woods, while Pacific Wharf nods to Monterey's Cannery Row.
You'll get to Grizzly Peak by taking the first right as you approach the hub. Pacific Wharf is situated along a lake; get there by following the walkway from the hub's 7 o'clock position and walk around Grizzly Peak.
The fourth land, Pixar Pier, recalls a seaside amusement park of the Victorian era that's been invaded by computer-generated cartoons. It's in the southwest corner of the park, on the far side of the large lake.
Cars Land is the sixth land, with its primary entrance across from the Golden Vine Winery.
Finally, Avengers Campus, dedicated to Marvel's Super Heroes, is sandwiched between Cars Land and Hollywood Land.

The Grand Californian entrance is often overwhelmed in early mornings, and guests using it reach the rope-drop area far behind those coming through the main entrance, so you may save time by walking to the front gate.
All guests will be allowed through the main entrance at least 30 minutes before official park opening. Guests who are not eligible for early-entry will be held on Buena Vista Street until after a brief rope drop musical fanfare at the official opening time.

It's also possible to walk around Grizzly Peak and wait near the The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure ride for quickest access to Pixar Pier's Incredicoaster and Toy Story Midway Mania!
Once the park opens, you and the rest of the crowd will be walked toward your destination to avoid a stampede.

Most reminiscent of the Ahwahnee \r\n\r\nhotel at Yosemite National Park, the Grand Californian combines rugged \r\n\r\ncraftsmanship and grand scale with functional design and intimate spaces. Pull \r\n\r\nup a vintage rocker in front of a blazing fire, and the bustling lobby \r\n\r\ninstantly becomes a snug cabin.
\r\n\r\nIn 2018, Grand Californian's rooms received a much needed top to bottom upgrade. Lighting has been drastically improved, USB charging outlets are plentiful, the decor has been freshened up, and more storage space has been added.
\r\n\r\nThe hotel's main entrance off Disneyland Drive is primarily for vehicular \r\n\r\ntraffic. Two pedestrian-only entrances open into Downtown Disney and DCA; this \r\n\r\nlast makes it a cinch to return to the hotel from DCA for a nap, a swim, or \r\n\r\nlunch. Walking time to Disneyland Park is about 4 minutes.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRanging $475–$980 per night, guest rooms are the most expensive at \r\n\r\nDisneyland Resort. The Grand Californian, like the other two Disney-owned \r\n\r\nhotels, charges guests $40 a day for self-parking (up to two vehicles, free \r\n\r\nfor Disney Vacation Club members) or $50 for valet (714-635-2300). On the \r\n\r\nplus side, none of the hotels charge a resort fee, and all provide safes, \r\n\r\nmini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi in rooms and public areas.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDisney’s time-share condo enterprise, the Disney Vacation Club, premiered \r\n\r\nits first West Coast property as part of the 2009 expansion of the Grand \r\n\r\nCalifornian. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian consist of 48 two-\r\n\r\nbedroom equivalent villas and two Grand Villas. Equivalent is the term used to \r\n\r\ndescribe single units that can be sold (or rented) as studio suites or \r\n\r\ncombined to make two- and three-bedroom villas. All villas except studio \r\n\r\nsuites include kitchens, living rooms, and dining areas, as well as washers \r\n\r\nand dryers. Master bedrooms offer a king bed, while other bedrooms provide two \r\n\r\nqueen beds. Studio suites come with a single queen bed. All bedrooms have a \r\n\r\nflat-panel TV, private bath, and private balcony. Though studio suites don’t \r\n\r\nhave full kitchens, they do include a small fridge, a microwave, and a \r\n\r\ncoffeemaker. Two-bedroom villas consist of a one-bedroom villa joined to a \r\n\r\nstudio suite. Three-bedroom Grand Villas are two-story affairs with the living \r\n\r\narea, kitchen, and master bedroom on the lower level and two bedrooms on the \r\n\r\nupper level. Rates for various villas range from $400 for a studio suite \r\n\r\nduring the off-season to $6,000 for a three-bedroom Grand Villa on New Year’s \r\n\r\nweekend. Other elements of the Grand Californian include a swimming pool for \r\n\r\nthe villas and an underground parking garage.
\r\n\r\nInspired by Napa Valley cuisine, the Napa Rose restaurant is the Disneyland \r\n\r\nResort's premier fine-dining venue. Situated in a stunning room overlooking \r\n\r\nDCA, Napa Rose is very expensive but still a very good value . Just a notch \r\n\r\ndown in price and formality, but likewise located in an exceptionally lovely \r\n\r\n(albeit more rustic) room, is the Storytellers Cafe, which serves breakfast, \r\n\r\nlunch, and dinner. The restaurant's name is drawn from period murals depicting \r\n\r\ntall tales set in early California. The fare consists of house-specialty \r\n\r\nwood-fired pizza and hearty home-style comfort food.

\r\n\r\nEach Disney-owned hotel has a nice theme but Grand Californian's theme \r\n\r\nnational-park lodge theme is unmatched in terms of beauty and scope. Yes, you \r\n\r\nwill pay a high premium to stay here but having a direct entrance in to Disney \r\n\r\nCalifornia Adventure is a nice perk. Also, Grand Californian has some of the \r\n\r\nbest dining available in Disneyland Resort.
\r\n\r\nDisneyland and Disney California Adventure offers Early Entry access every day of the week. Early Entry allows Disneyland Resort hotel guests staying at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, or Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel in to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure 30 minutes before the parks open to the public. So if a park officially opens at 8:00 a.m., some people will be able to enter at 7:30 a.m.

Grand Californian \r\n\r\nHotel's pools are open every day, including during winter. Pools are heated to \r\n\r\n82°F/28°C throughout\r\nthe year. We've swum in temperatures as cold as 40°F/4°C; the water \r\n\r\nwas fine, but getting out was a shock. Grand Californian Hotel also has a \r\n\r\nhot tub near each pool. The Redwood Pool also features a \r\n\r\nwaterslide.
\r\n\r\nPool hours are at least 9AM to 9 PM, extending to as much \r\n\r\nas 8 AM to 12 AM during busy times. Lifeguards are on duty during the pools' \r\n\r\noperating hours.

The Grand \r\n\r\nCalifornian's Craftsman theme is carried into this premier room with sweeping \r\n\r\nviews of Disney California adventure from virtually every table. A large, open \r\n\r\ndemonstration kitchen lets you watch the magic happen, and wine, in all of its \r\n\r\nglory, is displayed at every turn. Fine linens, china, and flatware are the \r\n\r\nnorm. This is an absolutely gorgeous room with food and service to match.
\r\n\r\nNapa Rose may be the best restaurant in Orange County and has been at the \r\n\r\ntop of most critics' lists since its debut. Top talent in the kitchen and in \r\n\r\nthe dining room, beautiful space with panoramic views and a wine cellar second \r\n\r\nto none, make this an incomparable gustatory experience. Every server has \r\n\r\nearned sommelier status, a designation that takes years of study and practical \r\n\r\nexperience with wine and wine-making. Look for unusual ingredients (tahitian \r\n\r\nvanilla, smoked sturgeon, truffled quail eggs, lemongrass, almond oil) married \r\n\r\nto top-notch staples (Colorado lamb, Berkshire pork, pheasant breast), all \r\n\r\ndeftly handled by a world-class kitchen crew. and although staff are very \r\n\r\naccommodating in the usual Disney manner, this is definitely not an adventure \r\n\r\nfor the kids. Napa Rose should be on every adult's Disney bucket list, a \r\n\r\nmust-do at least once. If the full menu is too rich for your blood sit in the \r\n\r\ncozy lounge and order appetizers.
\r\n\r\nThe menu, rotated seasonally, focuses on the cuisine of California's wine \r\n\r\nregion, ranchlands, farm belts, and coastline. Wine finds its way onto most of \r\n\r\nthe menu in sauces, reductions, infusions, and dressings.
\r\n\r\nNapa Rose also has an attached lounge with a variety \r\n\r\nof fancy cocktails and wine. Napa Rose Lounge has its own menu but guests can \r\n\r\nalso order off of the main Napa Rose menu.
\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Storytellers Cafe carries the grand Californian's arts and Crafts theme \r\n\r\nthroughout with large, open beams; natural wood and wood carvings; milled \r\n\r\nstone; and stained glass. the walls are adorned with impressive murals \r\n\r\ndepicting the state's rich literary history, from Mark twain's the Celebrated \r\n\r\nJumping Frog of Calaveras County to Scott Dell's Island of the Blue \r\n\r\nDolphins.
\r\n\r\nYou may experience a little sticker shock at first, but there's real value \r\n\r\nhere. It's not quite on par with Napa Rose across the way, but the same \r\n\r\ndedication to quality and originality is evident in everything from the menu \r\n\r\nto the service. Kids will find lots to like about the menu, along with enough \r\n\r\ndistractions between the colorful menus, murals, and character visits to let \r\n\r\nthe adults enjoy a wide range of menu options (from pastas to steaks to fresh \r\n\r\nfish) and a leisurely cocktail or glass of wine. You'll want to save some room \r\n\r\nfor dessert, too who could pass up warm seasonal-fruit cobbler heaped with \r\n\r\nvanilla ice cream or a warm chocolate brownie?
\r\n\r\nChildren under age 10 will love the character breakfast. Chip & Dale, \r\n\r\ngoofy, and other Disney celebrities visit the tables, sign autographs, and \r\n\r\npose for photos between bites of omelets, waffles, and hotcakes. At dinner, \r\n\r\nbraised chicken and lemon prawns.
\r\n\r\nCraftsman is a great place to eat. It has lots of choices to make \r\n\r\neveryone happy and is easy to get to when you need a break from the parks. \r\n\r\nCraftsman is a bit off the beaten path, because of this it rarely seems to \r\n\r\nbe crowded. We’ve been on the most packed of summer days and found the whole \r\n\r\nplace fairly deserted. Yet, Craftsman is so close you can see DCA \r\n\r\nright through the windows.
\r\n\r\n\r\nHearthstone Lounge is Grand Californian's main lounge. Located just off of \r\n\r\nthe hotel's lobby, Hearthstone has indoor seating and a full drink menu with \r\n\r\nseveral beer selections, wines, and a selection of spirits.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDriving Your Own Car Grand Californian Hotel is just off of \r\n\r\nthe 5 freeway in Anaheim. Take I-5 South Exit on Disneyland \r\n\r\nDrive and turn left on Disneyland Drive. Go \r\nabout 0.6 miles and Grand Californian Hotel will be on your left.\r\n

Getting to the theme parks and Downtown Disney: All \r\n\r\nDisneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney can be accessed \r\n\r\nwith a short walk from any Grand Californian Hotel room. The walk from \r\n\r\nDisneyland Hotel to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure usually takes \r\n\r\nabout 15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. Another option is to take \r\n\r\nthe Disneyland Monorail. Guests who catch the monorail at Downtown Disney will \r\n\r\nbe dropped off at the Tomorrowland Monorail Station. \r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nGrand Californian Hotel's gift shop is Acorns Gifts & Goods and sits \r\n\r\njust off the lobby. As you'd expect from a Disney gift shop, Acorns has a \r\n\r\ndecent\r\ncollection of souvenirs ranging from small trinkets such as keychains and \r\n\r\npens, to embroidered jackets and Disney princess dresses. Prices for these \r\n\r\nitems are about what you'd pay in the theme parks or Downtown Disney.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nAcorns also sells basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, \r\n\r\nallergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. \r\n\r\n\r\nDisney-branded cookies, chocolate, coffee tins, and similar items are also available. Prices for these items are considerably higher - \r\n\r\nabout double - than what you'd probably pay\r\nat home.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCoin-operated washers and dryers are in laundry facilities \r\n\r\nlocated near the Fountain Pool. Cost is around $2 per wash, and another $2 per \r\n\r\ndry cycle.\r\nThe machines take quarters, and a change machine is provided. A small \r\n\r\nselection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for\r\naround $1 each. A typical wash cycle takes 20 to 30 minutes, and a typical dry \r\n\r\ncycle takes 40 to 50.\r\n

Though all four towers share restaurants, shopping, and recreational \r\n\r\namenities, the Fantasy Tower is most conveniently located. \r\n\r\nRack rates for the Disneyland hotel range from around $410 for a city view \r\n\r\nin the off-season to more than $720 for a theme park view during holiday \r\n\r\nperiods. The best views can be had from the east/ west-facing Adventure Tower, \r\n\r\nwhich overlooks the hotel’s inner plaza and pool area on the west and Downtown \r\n\r\nDisney and the theme parks to the east. The most lackluster views are the \r\n\r\nnorth-facing vistas of the Fantasy Tower, although on a clear day you can see as far as Downtown Los Angeles and even the Hollywood sign.
\r\n\r\nAs concerns practical matters, parking is a royal pain at the Disneyland \r\n\r\nhotel. The self-parking garage is convenient only to the Fantasy Tower, and \r\n\r\neven there you’ll probably have a long walk. To reach the other two towers, \r\n\r\nyou must pass through the Fantasy Tower and navigate across the hotel’s inner \r\n\r\nplaza and pool area. The Frontier Tower on the southern end of the property \r\n\r\nhas a small parking lot to the rear accessible via Downtown Drive and Paradise \r\n\r\nWay. Unfortunately, many of the already limited spaces are reserved for the \r\n\r\nadjacent Disney Vacation Club time-share sales office. Even so, if you’re \r\n\r\nstaying at the Frontier Tower, it’s your best bet. If there’s no room in the \r\n\r\nFrontier lot, you’re better off parking in the Paradise Pier hotel’s lot than \r\n\r\nin the Disneyland hotel parking garage. The only valet parking is at the \r\n\r\nFantasy Tower, so even if you valet park, you’ll still have to hoof it to the \r\n\r\nother towers.
\r\nA California family who didn't have a car to park thought the Disneyland \r\n\r\nHotel especially convenient:
\r\n\r\nI initially thought that staying at the Disneyland Hotel was a \r\n\r\nnice treat that we might do just this once. I now see it as an absolute \r\n\r\nnecessity as it allows early entry and an easy midday retreat. That plus the \r\n\r\ngreat service there seals the deal. One final tip: Although the rooms don't \r\n\r\nhave a kitchenette, you can request a refrigerator and a coffeemaker. We used \r\n\r\nthe coffeemaker to heat water for instant oatmeal and kept juice and milk in \r\n\r\nthe fridge for quick breakfasts in the room.\r\n

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWalt Disney barely managed to finance the construction of the Disneyland \r\n\r\ntheme park. He certainly didn't have the funds to purchase adjacent property \r\n\r\nor build hotels, though on-site hotels were central to his overall concept. So \r\n\r\nhe cut a deal with petroleum engineer and TV producer Jack Wrather to build \r\n\r\nand operate the Disneyland Hotel. The deal not only gave Wrather the rights to \r\n\r\nthe Disneyland Hotel but also allowed him to build other Disneyland Hotels \r\n\r\nwithin the state of California until 2054. It always irked Walt that he didn't \r\n\r\nown the hotel that bore his name, but Wrather steadfastly refused to \r\n\r\nrenegotiate the rights. After Jack Wrather died in 1984, the Walt Disney \r\n\r\nCompany bought the entire Wrather Corporation, which among other things held \r\n\r\nthe rights to the Lone Ranger and Lassie TV series and, improbably, the RMS \r\n\r\nQueen Mary, docked at Long Beach. By acquiring the whole corporation, the Walt \r\n\r\nDisney Company brought the Disneyland Hotel under Disney ownership in \r\n\r\n1988.
\r\n\r\nIn August 2009 the Disneyland hotel embarked on an ambitious and long-\r\n\r\noverdue renovation that included major improvements to the guest rooms, as \r\n\r\nwell as a modernization of the hotel’s exterior. \r\n\r\nThe bathrooms are still small for an upscale hotel, but there is a sink and \r\n\r\nvanity outside the bathrooms. As in most family hotels built in the 1950s and \r\n\r\n60s, a connecting door, situated by the closet and the aforementioned single \r\n\r\nsink, leads to an adjoining room. Soundproofing around the connecting doors is \r\n\r\nnonexistent, so be prepared to revel in the sounds of your neighbors brushing \r\n\r\ntheir teeth, coping with indigestion, and arguing over what to wear. \r\n\r\nFortunately, these sounds don’t carry into the sleeping area.\r\n Water pressure in the shower is good. A 1500-watt, wall-mounted hair dryer is \r\n\r\nprovided, but it's not very powerful; bring your own if you've got lots of \r\n\r\nhair.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDisney knows that some hotel rooms are better than others. Most people prefer \r\n\r\nto be close to the lobby and dining, and want something\r\npretty to look at from their hotel room window. To capitalize on this, Disney \r\n\r\ncategorizes all of Disneyland Hotel's rooms based on what you see from inside \r\n\r\nthe room.\r\n
\r\n\r\nHere's the system Disney uses:\r\n
\r\nThe original pool has been greatly expanded into an “immersive water play \r\n\r\narea.” The new complex’s centerpiece is a pair of waterslides (187 feet and \r\n\r\n112 feet long, respectively) themed to resemble vintage monorail trains, \r\n\r\ntopped by the classic Disneyland block-letter logo. There’s also a 19-foot \r\n\r\nkiddie slide and bubble jets for the little ones. While the footprint of the \r\n\r\n4,800-square-foot E-Ticket Pool (formerly known as the Never Land Pool) \r\n\r\nremains unchanged, a new 4-foot-deep pool has been added between it and the \r\n\r\nnew waterslides, with a footbridge allowing easy passage from one side of the \r\n\r\nwater to the other. Unfortunately, the adult-friendly quieter Cove pools were \r\n\r\nlost in the construction, reclaimed as a grassy space for special events. \r\n\r\nThough the rebuilt amenities are attractive, they still appear inadequate in \r\n\r\nlight of the hotel’s volume of visitors. On sunny days expect long inefficient \r\n\r\nlines for the slides, as well as a severe shortage of lounge chairs and elbow \r\n\r\nroom. \r\n
\r\n\t\r\nDisneyland Hotel's pools range in depth from around 3 feet 6 inches/1.1m to \r\n\r\n4 feet 9 inches/1.4m. Disneyland Hotel's pools are open every day, including \r\n\r\nduring winter. Pools are heated to 82°F/28°C throughout\r\nthe year. We've swum in temperatures as cold as 40°F/4°C; the water \r\n\r\nwas fine, but getting out was a shock. Disneyland Hotel also has a \r\n\r\nhot tub near in the pool complex.
\r\n\r\nPool hours are at least 9AM to 9 PM, extending to as much \r\n\r\nas 8 AM to 12 AM during busy times. Lifeguards are on duty during the pools' \r\n\r\noperating hours.
\r\n\r\nInfants and children in diapers are welcome the Disneyland Hotel pools, as \r\n\r\nlong as they're wearing swim diapers. Water wings are allowed \r\n\r\nat all Disney pools, and every pool has free life vests in a \r\n\r\nvariety of sizes:\r\n
You may need to bring your towels from your room to use at the pool - \r\n\r\nDisney sometimes stocks extra towels poolside, and sometimes they don't. Our \r\n\r\nadvice is to send someone\r\n down to the pool to check the towel situation before you go. If you end up \r\n\r\nusing your room towels at the pool, just call Housekeeping when you get back \r\n\r\nand request more.
\r\n\r\nDisneyland Hotel's E-Ticket Pool has a chair-lift device that can lower \r\n\r\nguests in wheelchairs into the shallow end of the pool. Check with any \r\n\r\nlifeguard for assistance on using the lift.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDisneyland Hotel has one full-service restaurant, one character dining \r\n\r\nrestaurant, two bars and lounges, and two counter service restaurants. If none \r\n\r\nof these establishments meet your needs you can take a short walk to Downtown \r\n\r\nDisney and eat at any one of its restaurants of varying quality and price \r\n\r\nrange.\r\n

\r\n\r\nIt’s a buffet and your chef is Goofy... which should\r\ntell you everything you need to know. Breakfast features Mickeyshaped\r\nwaffles, sausages, pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and other\r\ntraditional breakfast items. Dinner offers everything from prime rib to\r\npremium salads.
\r\nYou come for two reasons: 1) It’s easy and convenient, especially if you’re \r\n\r\nstaying at the resort, and 2) the youngsters\r\nhaven’t yet had their fill of dining with a rotating cast of Disney\r\ncharacters. Goofy and all his friends always put a smile to kids’ faces.
\r\n\r\nBreakfast is your best option for both food and wait times. Goofy’s\r\nKitchen has many fans, including this Alpine, Utah grandmother:
\r\n\r\nGoofy’s Kitchen, even at the staggering price, was well worth it. \r\n\r\nThe food\r\nwas really good, a lot of the menu is designed for children, and the character\r\nvisits are worth the price. What a thrill to see my grandchildren’s\r\ndelight at being visited by Minnie, Pluto, Chip, and Snow White (with\r\nwhom my 2-year-old grandson flirted brazenly!).\r\n\r\n
Goofy’s Kitchen serves a character breakfast buffet 7 a.m.–noon (2 p.m. \r\n\r\nweekends) anda character dinner buffet 5–9 p.m. Goofy, of course, is the\r\nhead character, but he’s usually joined by Minnie, Pluto, and others. A \r\n\r\nseparate children’s menu featuring kid favorites such as hot dogs,\r\nburgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, macaroni and cheese, and spaghetti and\r\nmeatballs, as well as healthier options such as sliced fruit, yogurt,\r\nand whole-grain baked goods. Priority Seating is highly recommended\r\nfor Goofy's Kitchen.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTrader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar serves\r\nexotic cocktails and Asian-inspired appetizers in an intimate and elaborately\r\ndecorated environment reminiscent of Walt Disney World’s\r\nextinct Adventurers Club. Order an Uh Oa, Krakatoa Punch, or Shipwreck\r\non the Rocks to see some explosive special effects.
Trader Sam's shares \r\n\r\nits dining menu with the neighboring Tangaroa Terrace. Some standout items \r\n\r\ninclude the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Panko-crusted Chinese Long Beans
\r\n\r\nTrader Sam's has a limited amount of indoor and outdoor seating. This \r\n\r\nbecomes a problem on weekends due to the location being extremely popular with \r\n\r\nlocals. It's not uncommon to see lines of over an hour long to get a seat \r\n\r\nduring Disney Marathon and D23 Expo weekends.\r\n

House specialties Breakfast starts with French toast with bacon and\r\nbanana-caramel sauce or grilled cinnamon-spiced oatmeal cakes. Lunch and \r\n\r\ndinner feature a one-third-pound Hawaiian cheeseburger with teriyaki\r\nsauce, bacon, and grilled pineapple on a multigrain roll.

\r\n\r\n\r\nDriving Your Own Car Disneyland Hotel is just off of the 5 freeway in Anaheim. Take I-5 South Exit on Disneyland Dr and \r\n\r\nturn left on Disneyland Drive. Go \r\nabout 0.3 miles and make a right on Magic Way. Drive about 0.2 miles down Magic Way (past the Downtown Disney entrance) and Disneyland Hotel will be on your left.\r\n

Taxis are also available at all local airports, but the price can become extremely expensive after sitting in Los Angeles traffic on the way to Disneyland Resort. We've heard reports from people that have paid almost $150 to get from LAX to their Anaheim hotel.
\r\n\r\nGetting to the theme parks and Downtown Disney: All Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney can be accessed with a short walk from any Disneyland Hotel room. The walk from Disneyland Hotel to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure usually takes about 15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. Another option is to take the Disneyland Monorail. Guests who catch the monorail at Downtown Disney will be dropped off at the Tomorrowland Monorail Station. \r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nDisneyland Hotel's gift shop is Fantasia Shop and \r\n\r\nsits just off the lobby. \r\n\r\nAs you'd expect from a Disney gift shop, Fantasia has a decent\r\ncollection of souvenirs ranging from small trinkets such as keychains and \r\n\r\npens, to embroidered jackets and Disney princess dresses. Prices for these \r\n\r\nitems are about what you'd pay in the theme parks or Downtown Disney.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nFantasia Shop also sells basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, \r\n\r\naspirin, allergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the \r\n\r\nlike. Prices for these items are considerably higher - \r\n\r\nabout double - than what you'd probably pay\r\nat home.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nCoin-operated washers and dryers are in laundry facilities \r\n\r\nlocated near the Monorail Pool. Cost is around $2 per wash, and another $2 per dry cycle.\r\nThe machines take quarters, and a change machine is provided. A small \r\n\r\nselection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for\r\naround $1 each. A typical wash cycle takes 20 to 30 minutes, and a typical dry \r\n\r\ncycle takes 40 to 50.\r\n

Self-parking in Pixar Place’s on-site garage is fast and convenient. Somewhat isolated on the Disneyland Resort property, the hotel is a 14-minute hike to the theme park entrances, farther away than most non-Disney hotels lining Harbor Boulevard on the east side of the resort, if you walk through Downtown Disney. Keep in mind that Pixar Place guests are no longer allowed to cross Disneyland Drive and go through Grand Californian Hotel, but there is an exclusive entrance directly into Disney California Adventure if you're staying at Pixar Place.
\n\nRack rates for the Pixar Place Hotel range from around $300 for a city view \n\nin the off-season to more than $600 for a theme park view during holiday \n\nperiods. The best views can be had from the upper levels of the east side of the building, \n\nwhich overlooks Disney California Adventure. The most lackluster views are the \n\nwest-facing views.
\n\nParking (which is $40 per a night) is easy at Pixar Place Hotel thanks to a parking structure located steps away from a hotel entrance on the east side of the building.
\n\n\n\nDisneyland or Disney California Adventure offers Early Entry access every day of the week. Early Entry allows Disneyland Resort hotel guests staying at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, or Pixar Place Hotel in to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure 30 minutes before the parks open to the public. So if a park officially opens at 8:00 a.m., some people will be able to enter at 7:30 a.m. One early entry park is available each day, with Disneyland and DCA alternating.

\n\nPixar Place Hotel guests have access to an exclusive entrance in to Disney California Adventure. This saves the long walk to the front gate, which requires a walk through Downtown Disney.
\n\nThe entrance is located across the street from Pixar Place Hotel, near the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel sign. This gate can also be used to exit the park. The exclusive entrance enters in to the park near the Goofy's Sky School attraction and Corn Dog Castle restaurant.

\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDisney acquired the independent Pan Pacific hotel just south of the Disneyland hotel in 1997 and changed its name to the Disneyland Pacific hotel. Just before Disney California Adventure opened in 2001, the hotel was rechristened as the Paradise Pier Hotel in recognition of the Paradise Pier district of DCA that the hotel overlooked.
\nWith DCA's Paradise Pier land being a thing of the past (it was rethemed to Pixar Pier in 2018), it wasn't long before Disney announced another name and rebranding for this hotel, bringing us Pixar Place Hotel in 2024.
\n\n\n\n\n\nA security gate guards the entrance to Pixar Place Hotel's grounds. If you \n\narrive by car, you'll need to provide photo ID at the gate; it's not necessary \n\nto provide your reservation\nnumber or paperwork. A dedicated parking structure on the west side of the building serves as \n\nparking for all guests, even those checking in.\n
\n\nCheck-in time at Pixar Place Hotel is 3:00 PM, and check-out time is 11:00 AM. \n\nYou'll need to provide a government-issued photo ID and credit/debit card when \n\nyou register.\n
\n\nGet theme park tickets and dining reservations at the Concierge Desk. If \n\nyou need to check in and obtain theme park tickets, you can save some \n\ntime in line if one adult gets in line for tickets just after\nanother adult starts the registration process. The Concierge Desk can also \n\nmake Disney dining reservations, and you can avoid a wait there by making them \n\nonline prior to arrival.\n

\r\nThe Grand Californian, built in the rustic stone-and-timber style of the \r\n\r\ngrand national-park lodges, is the flagship property. Newer, more elaborately \r\n\r\nthemed, and closer to the theme parks and Downtown Disney than the other two \r\n\r\non-property hotels, the Grand Californian is without a doubt the best place to \r\n\r\nstay.
\r\n\r\nThe Grand Californian hotel is the crown jewel of Disneyland Resort’s three \r\n\r\nhotels. With its shingle siding, rock foundations, cavernous hewnbeam lobby, \r\n\r\npolished hardwood floors, and cozy hearths, the hotel is a stately combination \r\n\r\nof elements from Western national park lodges. Designed by architect Peter \r\n\r\nDominick (who also designed the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World), the \r\n\r\nGrand Californian is rendered in the Arts and Crafts style of the early 20th \r\n\r\ncentury, with such classic features as “flying” roofs, projecting beams, \r\n\r\nmassive buttresses, and an earth-tone color palette. We strongly encourage \r\n\r\nvisitors with an interest in architecture to take the fascinating (and free) \r\n\r\nhour-long Art of the Craft walking tour of the resort, offered several times \r\n\r\neach week through the Guest Services desk. Most reminiscent of the Ahwahnee \r\n\r\nhotel at Yosemite National Park, the Grand Californian combines rugged \r\n\r\ncraftsmanship and grand scale with functional design and intimate spaces. Pull \r\n\r\nup a vintage rocker in front of a blazing fire, and the bustling lobby \r\n\r\ninstantly becomes a snug cabin.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe hotel's main entrance off Disneyland Drive is primarily for vehicular \r\n\r\ntraffic. Two pedestrian-only entrances open into Downtown Disney and DCA; this \r\n\r\nlast makes it a cinch to return to the hotel from DCA for a nap, a swim, or \r\n\r\nlunch. Walking time to Disneyland Park is about 4 minutes.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRanging $475–$980 per night, guest rooms are the most expensive at \r\n\r\nDisneyland Resort. The Grand Californian, like the other two Disney-owned \r\n\r\nhotels, charges guests $20 a day for self-parking (up to two vehicles, free \r\n\r\nfor Disney Vacation Club members) or $30 for valet (714-635-2300). On the \r\n\r\nplus side, none of the hotels charge a resort fee, and all provide safes, \r\n\r\nmini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi in rooms and public areas.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDisney’s time-share condo enterprise, the Disney Vacation Club, premiered \r\n\r\nits first West Coast property as part of the 2009 expansion of the Grand \r\n\r\nCalifornian. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian consist of 48 two-\r\n\r\nbedroom equivalent villas and two Grand Villas. Equivalent is the term used to \r\n\r\ndescribe single units that can be sold (or rented) as studio suites or \r\n\r\ncombined to make two- and three-bedroom villas. All villas except studio \r\n\r\nsuites include kitchens, living rooms, and dining areas, as well as washers \r\n\r\nand dryers. Master bedrooms offer a king bed, while other bedrooms provide two \r\n\r\nqueen beds. Studio suites come with a single queen bed. All bedrooms have a \r\n\r\nflat-panel TV, private bath, and private balcony. Though studio suites don’t \r\n\r\nhave full kitchens, they do include a small fridge, a microwave, and a \r\n\r\ncoffeemaker. Two-bedroom villas consist of a one-bedroom villa joined to a \r\n\r\nstudio suite. Three-bedroom Grand Villas are two-story affairs with the living \r\n\r\narea, kitchen, and master bedroom on the lower level and two bedrooms on the \r\n\r\nupper level. Rates for various villas range from $400 for a studio suite \r\n\r\nduring the off-season to $6,000 for a three-bedroom Grand Villa on New Year’s \r\n\r\nweekend. Other elements of the Grand Californian include a swimming pool for \r\n\r\nthe villas and an underground parking garage.
\r\n\r\nInspired by Napa Valley cuisine, the Napa Rose restaurant is the Disneyland \r\n\r\nResort's premier fine-dining venue. Situated in a stunning room overlooking \r\n\r\nDCA, Napa Rose is very expensive but still a very good value . Just a notch \r\n\r\ndown in price and formality, but likewise located in an exceptionally lovely \r\n\r\n(albeit more rustic) room, is the Storytellers Cafe, which serves breakfast, \r\n\r\nlunch, and dinner. The restaurant's name is drawn from period murals depicting \r\n\r\ntall tales set in early California. The fare consists of house-specialty \r\n\r\nwood-fired pizza and hearty home-style comfort food.
\r\n\r\nThe resort's pool complex, beautifully landscaped with rocks and conifers \r\n\r\nin a High Sierra theme, includes a 90-foot-long twisting slide. The on-site Mandara Spa is one of \r\n\r\nDisney's best, offering a wide selection of treatments and a state-of-the-art \r\n\r\nfitness facility.
\r\n\r\nEach Disney-owned hotel has a nice theme but Grand Californian's theme \r\n\r\nnational-park lodge theme is unmatched in terms of beauty and scope. Yes, you \r\n\r\nwill pay a high premium to stay here but having a direct entrance in to Disney \r\n\r\nCalifornia Adventure is a nice perk. Also, Grand Californian has some of the \r\n\r\nbest dining available in Disneyland Resort.
\r\n\r\nDisneyland and Disney California Adventure offers Early Entry access every day of the week. Early Entry allows Disneyland Resort hotel guests staying at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, or Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel in to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure 30 minutes before the parks open to the public. So if a park officially opens at 8:00 a.m., some people will be able to enter at 7:30 a.m.

If you arrive by car, you'll need to provide photo ID at the gate; \r\n\r\nit's not necessary to provide your reservation\r\nnumber or paperwork. A dedicated parking lot across from the lobby serves as \r\n\r\ntemporary parking for those who need it while checking in.\r\n
\r\n\r\nCheck-in time at Grand Californian Hotel is 3:00 PM, and check-out time is \r\n\r\n11:00 AM. You'll need to provide a government-issued photo ID and credit/debit \r\n\r\ncard when you register.\r\n
\r\n\r\nGet theme park tickets and dining reservations at the Concierge Desk. If \r\n\r\nyou need to check in and obtain theme park tickets, you can save some \r\n\r\ntime in line if one adult gets in line for tickets just after\r\nanother adult starts the registration process. The Concierge Desk can also \r\n\r\nmake Disney dining reservations, and you can avoid a wait there by making them \r\n\r\nonline prior to arrival.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGrand Californian Hotel's Fountain Pool, Redwood Pool, and Mariposa Pool range in depth \r\n\r\nfrom around 3 feet 6 inches/1.1m to 4 feet 9 inches/1.4m. Grand Californian \r\n\r\nHotel's pools are open every day, including during winter. Pools are heated to \r\n\r\n82°F/28°C throughout\r\nthe year. We've swum in temperatures as cold as 40°F/4°C; the water \r\n\r\nwas fine, but getting out was a shock. Grand Californian Hotel also has a \r\n\r\nhot tub near each pool. The Redwood Pool also features a \r\n\r\nwaterslide.
\r\n\r\nPool hours are at least 9AM to 9 PM, extending to as much \r\n\r\nas 8 AM to 12 AM during busy times. Lifeguards are on duty during the pools' \r\n\r\noperating hours.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nInfants and children in diapers are welcome the Grand Californian Hotel \r\n\r\npools, as long as they're wearing swim diapers. Water wings \r\n\r\nare allowed at all Disney pools, and every pool has free life \r\n\r\nvests in a variety of sizes:\r\n
Grand Californian Hotel's Fountain Pool and Redwood Pool each have a \r\n\r\nchair-lift device that can lower guests in wheelchairs into the shallow end of \r\n\r\nthe pool. Check with any lifeguard for assistance on using the lift.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGrand Californian Hotel has one full-service restaurant, one character \r\n\r\ndining restaurant, two bars and lounges, and two counter service restaurants. \r\n\r\nIf none of these establishments meet your needs you can take a short walk to \r\n\r\nDowntown Disney and eat at any one of its restaurants of varying quality and \r\n\r\nprice range.\r\n
\r\n\r\nNapa Rose is Disneyland resort's flagship fine-dining experience. The Grand \r\n\r\nCalifornian's Craftsman theme is carried into this premier room with sweeping \r\n\r\nviews of Disney California adventure from virtually every table. A large, open \r\n\r\ndemonstration kitchen lets you watch the magic happen, and wine, in all of its \r\n\r\nglory, is displayed at every turn. Fine linens, china, and flatware are the \r\n\r\nnorm. This is an absolutely gorgeous room with food and service to match.
\r\n\r\nNapa Rose may be the best restaurant in Orange County and has been at the \r\n\r\ntop of most critics' lists since its debut. Top talent in the kitchen and in \r\n\r\nthe dining room, beautiful space with panoramic views and a wine cellar second \r\n\r\nto none, make this an incomparable gustatory experience. Every server has \r\n\r\nearned sommelier status, a designation that takes years of study and practical \r\n\r\nexperience with wine and wine-making. Look for unusual ingredients (tahitian \r\n\r\nvanilla, smoked sturgeon, truffled quail eggs, lemongrass, almond oil) married \r\n\r\nto top-notch staples (Colorado lamb, Berkshire pork, pheasant breast), all \r\n\r\ndeftly handled by a world-class kitchen crew. and although staff are very \r\n\r\naccommodating in the usual Disney manner, this is definitely not an adventure \r\n\r\nfor the kids. Napa Rose should be on every adult's Disney bucket list, a \r\n\r\nmust-do at least once. If the full menu is too rich for your blood sit in the \r\n\r\ncozy lounge and order appetizers.
\r\n\r\nThe menu, rotated seasonally, focuses on the cuisine of California's wine \r\n\r\nregion, ranchlands, farm belts, and coastline. Wine finds its way onto most of \r\n\r\nthe menu in sauces, reductions, infusions, and dressings.
\r\n\r\nNapa Rose also has an attached lounge with a variety \r\n\r\nof fancy cocktails and wine. Napa Rose Lounge has its own menu but guests can \r\n\r\nalso order off of the main Napa Rose menu.
\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Storytellers Cafe carries the grand Californian's arts and Crafts theme \r\n\r\nthroughout with large, open beams; natural wood and wood carvings; milled \r\n\r\nstone; and stained glass. the walls are adorned with impressive murals \r\n\r\ndepicting the state's rich literary history, from Mark twain's the Celebrated \r\n\r\nJumping Frog of Calaveras County to Scott Dell's Island of the Blue \r\n\r\nDolphins.
\r\n\r\nYou may experience a little sticker shock at first, but there's real value \r\n\r\nhere. It's not quite on par with Napa Rose across the way, but the same \r\n\r\ndedication to quality and originality is evident in everything from the menu \r\n\r\nto the service. Kids will find lots to like about the menu, along with enough \r\n\r\ndistractions between the colorful menus, murals, and character visits to let \r\n\r\nthe adults enjoy a wide range of menu options (from pastas to steaks to fresh \r\n\r\nfish) and a leisurely cocktail or glass of wine. You'll want to save some room \r\n\r\nfor dessert, too who could pass up warm seasonal-fruit cobbler heaped with \r\n\r\nvanilla ice cream or a warm chocolate brownie?
\r\n\r\nChildren under age 10 will love the character breakfast. Chip & Dale, \r\n\r\ngoofy, and other Disney celebrities visit the tables, sign autographs, and \r\n\r\npose for photos between bites of omelets, waffles, and hotcakes. At dinner, \r\n\r\nbraised chicken and lemon prawns.
\r\n\r\nCraftsman is a great place to eat. It has lots of choices to make \r\n\r\neveryone happy and is easy to get to when you need a break from the parks. \r\n\r\nCraftsman is a bit off the beaten path, because of this it rarely seems to \r\n\r\nbe crowded. We’ve been on the most packed of summer days and found the whole \r\n\r\nplace fairly deserted. Yet, Craftsman is so close you can see DCA \r\n\r\nright through the windows.
\r\n\r\n\r\nHearthstone Lounge is Grand Californian's main lounge. Located just off of \r\n\r\nthe hotel's lobby, Hearthstone has indoor seating and a full drink menu with \r\n\r\nseveral beer selections, wines, and a selection of spirits.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDriving Your Own Car Grand Californian Hotel is just off of \r\n\r\nthe 5 freeway in Anaheim. Take I-5 South Exit on Disneyland \r\n\r\nDrive and turn left on Disneyland Drive. Go \r\nabout 0.6 miles and Grand Californian Hotel will be on your left.\r\n

Getting to the theme parks and Downtown Disney: All \r\n\r\nDisneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney can be accessed \r\n\r\nwith a short walk from any Grand Californian Hotel room. The walk from \r\n\r\nDisneyland Hotel to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure usually takes \r\n\r\nabout 15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. Another option is to take \r\n\r\nthe Disneyland Monorail. Guests who catch the monorail at Downtown Disney will \r\n\r\nbe dropped off at the Tomorrowland Monorail Station. \r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nGrand Californian Hotel's gift shop is Acorns Gifts & Goods and sits \r\n\r\njust off the lobby. As you'd expect from a Disney gift shop, Acorns has a \r\n\r\ndecent\r\ncollection of souvenirs ranging from small trinkets such as keychains and \r\n\r\npens, to embroidered jackets and Disney princess dresses. Prices for these \r\n\r\nitems are about what you'd pay in the theme parks or Downtown Disney.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nAcorns also sells basic pharmacy items such as sunscreen, aspirin, \r\n\r\nallergy and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. \r\n\r\n\r\nDisney-branded cookies, chocolate, coffee tins, and similar items are also available. Prices for these items are considerably higher - \r\n\r\nabout double - than what you'd probably pay\r\nat home.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCoin-operated washers and dryers are in laundry facilities \r\n\r\nlocated near the Fountain Pool. Cost is around $2 per wash, and another $2 per \r\n\r\ndry cycle.\r\nThe machines take quarters, and a change machine is provided. A small \r\n\r\nselection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for\r\naround $1 each. A typical wash cycle takes 20 to 30 minutes, and a typical dry \r\n\r\ncycle takes 40 to 50.\r\n
