What should you know?

Though the restaurant is usually packed and noisy, the waitstaff makes it worthwhile. The food is better than it needs to be, and there's lots of it - just like home.

What’s it like inside?

Prime Time Cafe is a trip back in time to a 1950s kitchen stocked with antique fridges, laminate tabletops, sunburst clocks, and decoupage art made from preserved fruit. Black-and-white TVs play vintage sitcom clips while you wait for your entrées.

The waitstaff's role is to be one of your relatives, telling you what "mom" has prepared for the meal, while nagging you about your manners and telling you to stop slouching. It's all good-natured fun, and enjoyable to play along.

What are the specialties?

Pot roast, fried chicken, meat loaf, plus a sampler platter with some of each; PB&J milkshake and other retro fare.

Desserts are a strong point, with warm apple crisp and a chocolate–peanut butter layer cake being the highlights.
