Our in-parks team is in Disney theme parks every week recording wait times, trying food, soaking in the atmosphere, and looking for any changes that might impact your vacation. Here’s ten changes that stood out to us this week.
Ever-Changing Construction Walls at EPCOT
Something something rats in a maze? Maybe that’s the theme for EPCOT right now with the previews for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. One thing is for certain, construction walls are never in the same place twice it seems!
Biergarten Switches to Buffet
When Biergarten in EPCOT’s Germany pavilion reopened, it did so as a family-style dining option. With the reopening of Boma, it seems like Disney is okay with buffets going back to buffet life. Biergarten is no exception.
Where’s the People?
September is a slow month typically at Walt Disney World, but the lack of crowds has been impressive. We’ve already got these days as a 1 on our crowd calendar. There isn’t a lower number that we can assign them. But it makes for some pretty impressively quiet days at the parks!
Italy Pizza Window is Open
Normally the pizza window in Italy is only open during times of high crowds. It’s open right now. Who knows why, but yum!
Lightning Lane Signs Going Up
You weren’t imaging it — Lightning Lane is actually a thing that is coming, and signs replacing FastPass+ are popping up all around Walt Disney World. You can see our pictures here.
Living with the Land’s Unscheduled Closure and Reopening
Living with the Land had an unscheduled closure for over a week, but we’re pleased to report that it has reopened. There were a lot of rumors about why it was closed, but I tend to think it was a boring maintenance-related issue that needed handling instead of cucumber theft.
Golden Clock on Main Street
Things are getting blinged up around Walt Disney World in preparation for the 50th. One thing we all fell in love with was the golden clock on Main Street. Isn’t it gorgeous?
New 50th Sign Out Front of Magic Kingdom
You’ll also notice when you arrive at Magic Kingdom new photo op signage out front before you pass under the train station. Make sure to get a photo for this milestone event!
Hub Statues Removed
Also in preparation for the 50th, we noticed that the small character statues have been removed from the Hub area, just in time for the installation of 50 new golden statues representing a wide variety of characters.
Remy Area in Previews
And the big news of the week, the Remy area is open for previews before its official October 1 grand debut. You can see more photos from the area, along with the foods we tried at the Creperie here.
That’s it for this week. Which item are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments.
