Foto Fridays – Visual Touring Plans: Adventureland Tikis

Sometimes when we have our blinders on, dialed into making haste and finding the quickest route from attraction 13 to attraction 14 on our touring plans, we miss some of the neat details that make the parks and resorts so magical. The aim of today’s post is to point out one such detail, to hopefully enhance your future enjoyment of the parks as you tour.

Chances are, if you have kids, you are well aware of these guys. Even if you don’t have kids, you’ve probably noticed these towering tikis located adjacent to the Jungle Cruise and across from the Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

These six faux-wooden gods spray cooling mist on guests brave enough to disturb the tikis, and also bellow rhythmic drum sounds that can be heard by those who pass. Because of this cooling mist, these guys are often a hot-spot for children until the late afternoon. In the evening, however, adjacent benches provide a nice spot to enjoy a Dole Whip from Aloha Isle, and hear the tikis as they rock their drums.

On one of their infinitely helpful signs, Kodak recommends these tikis as an epic location to take a photo (my words, not theirs). I couldn’t agree with this more. These tikis make wonderful subjects unto themselves, or can be great with one of the other nearby attractions in the background. Heck, they’re even great for playful family shots if you put on your best “tiki faces.” It might be hard to replicate their facial expressions, but give it your best shot! So the next time you’re heading to no. 14 (Jungle Cruise, for the unassimilated) on the Adult One-Day Magic Kingdom Touring Plan, make a quick stop to snap a photo with these guys!
