Weekly Disneyland Photo Update for July 27, 2012

This week we take a look at continuing construction around the Disneyland Resort, and the sudden refurbishment of the Jungle Cruise.

The Jungle Cruise closed suddenly on Thursday for a short refurbishment. Bumpers will be added to the dock to shorten the gap between the dock and boats.

The entrance and exit to the attraction are blocked by construction walls. The attraction is currently scheduled to reopen on Thursday, August 2nd.

Signs have been added to Big Thunder Trail to advertise the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.

The signs feature cow boy Mickey Mouse and some of the bears from Country Bear Jamboree.

The first bit of Halloween merchandise has been spotted inside the Emporium on Main Street. Be the envy of your friends by buying a Halloween Mickey Mouse three months early.

Princess Fantasy Faire construction continues. I couldn’t get a clear picture, but some progress has been made behind the construction walls. The ground is now mostly flattened out.

The lone DCA update for this week: The sign above the Pacific Wharf bridge has returned after being gone for several months.

Disney has announced that the newsstand at the far west side of Downtown Disney will be removed “to allow for better guest flow.” Honestly, I’m surprised it took them this long announce its removal. Dozens of businesses have come and gone with no success in this location.

Construction continues on Earl of Sandwich.

This week’s classic Disneyland picture is of the Jungle Cruise as it appeared in 1965. Notice the boat’s original color-scheme. Also, the skipper is firing AT the hippos rather than in the air to scare the hippos away, as they do in the current version of the ride. The Jungle Cruise is one of Disneyland’s opening day attractions.

That’s it for this week. Do you have something you want me to cover in the weekly photo update? Leave a comment in the section below!
