Weekly Disneyland Photo Update For December 28, 2012

The structures housing the screens for the New Years Eve countdown clocks have appeared in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Other than the New Years Eve countdown screens there is nothing new or notable to report at the Disneyland Resort this week. So instead of the usual update I will be posting pictures of the heavy crowds around the resort this week. This was truly a 10 out of 10 week like we predicted. Here are what the lines looked like at the ticket booths around 10 AM on Thursday morning. I overheard a castmember telling guests the wait for tickets was over 1 hour long. Remember, you can save a ton of time by buying tickets online from Disney’s website or at almost any grocery market in Southern California.

This flyer is handed out during the few times a year when the parks will be extremely busy.

In the esplanade the lines to enter Disneyland and Disney California Adventure were also extremely long during the same time as the picture above.

The wait time board as seen around 4 PM. Posted wait times became longer as the day went on with Indiana Jones Adventure reaching as long as 180 minutes.

Main Street USA, busy but still manageable.

Tomorrowland was gridlocked as crowds try to make their way between the narrow walkways. The area was made even more crowded because of the extended queues being used for Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters on both sides of the land.

100 minute posted wait on Space Mountain. Fastpass tickets were “sold out” for major headliners (Space Mountain, Indiana Jones Adventure, Star Tours) by the time I entered Disneyland at 3 PM.

Big crowds in Fantasyland.

Big crowds in Frontierland.

Crowds in Adventureland were gridlocked. This is one of the park’s worst bottlenecks.

Crowds were slightly better in Disney California Adventure. Luigi’s Flying Tires and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree hovered around 60 minute posted wait times for most of the day. Radiator Springs Racers had a posted wait of 180 minutes but the attraction’s wait time doesn’t go any higher than that.

Even minor attractions like Goofy’s Sky School had high posted wait times.

Toy Story Midway Mania posted a 100 minute wait when I was there 2 PM. We received submissions as high as 120 minutes later in the day.

A shot of the crowd in Paradise Pier, next to California Screamin’. As you can see, these pictures show what a crowd level 10 day can look like in the parks. A proper Touring Plan is essential on days like this!

This is the last TouringPlans Disneyland Photo Update for the year! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. See you in 2013!

Well….it is Christmas week…so none of this should come as a surprise to anyone, especially if you look at the crowd calendars.

This is a “photo update”? It’s not like you can see much in any of the photos.
