Disney World Crowd Calendar Report – April 12 to 18, 2015

Two weeks ago crowd levels surprised us by being higher than we predicted indicating that more vacationers spent their post-Easter / Spring Break at Walt Disney World Resort than expected. So, I suppose it is only natural that last week we saw crowds go the opposite direction, with crowd levels much lower than predicted most days.

Magic Kingdom’s crowd level was only slightly less than what the calendar predicted while the other three parks saw crowd levels much lower than expected on Sunday. Only Peter Pan’s Flight averaged a wait time higher than 50 minutes (57, predicted 54).

Magic Kingdom had the highest crowd level again on Monday although it only managed a level ‘4’. Monday marked the first day since February that the other three parks had crowd levels less than ‘3’.

Tuesday’s crowd Magic Kingdom led the way again, with the other three parks having levels three to four points lower. Tower of Terror averaged only 22 minutes and Great Movie Ride only 9.

Wednesday’s crowd levels were the lowest we have seen resort-wide since January, a sure sign that the post-Easter, post-Spring Break lull has begun.

Thursday brought another day with crowds lower than the calendar predicted, especially at Epcot. There we saw wait time averages like 53 minutes at Soarin’ (predicted 57) and 14 minutes at Spaceship Earth (predicted 26).

Friday was the first day that our predictions held true, resort-wide. The calendar correctly predicted Epcot and Hollywood Studios and only missed by one level at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.

Saturday’s crowd calendar did well again with only Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom missing the mark, and only by one level. Space Mountain averaged 56 minutes (predicted 42), Big Thunder Mountain 43 (39) and The Haunted Mansion 35 (36).

Late April is a great time of year to visit the parks, especially if Easter occurs early in the season. Wait times will be moderate at worst with most parks hovering at crowd levels below the middle part of our scale. Expect most days next week and the weeks to come to be at levels of ‘5’ or below.
