Disney World Crowd Calendar Report – April 19 to 25, 2015

During the middle part of last week crowd levels dipped slightly below the Disney World Crowd Calendar predictions, otherwise crowds were as expected. Park level predictions were within one index level most days as well with the only exception being the two Kingdoms (Magic and Animal) which dipped lower than expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Disney World Crowd Calendar started with a clean sweep of exact predictions. All four parks had wait times exactly as predicted last Sunday. Peter Pan’s Flight had the highest average wait time at Magic Kingdom at 58 minutes.

Monday’s wait times did not constitute a level above ‘4’ at any of the parks. We saw average wait times of 65 minutes at Peter Pan’s Flight, 58 at Soarin’, 81 at Toy Story Midway Mania and 26 minutes at Expedition Everest.

Magic Kingdom led the way on Wednesday, as predicted, with a crowd level ‘5’. That means Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin averaged 32 minutes and The Haunted Mansion averaged 31.

No park managed a crowd level above a level ‘3’ on Wednesday. Tower of Terror averaged only 28 minutes between 10am and 5pm, a clear level ‘1’ on our scale.

Both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom came in three levels lower than the calendar expected on Thursday while the other two parks, Epcot and Hollywood Studios were within one. Wait times were within 8 minutes of predicted, on average, across all parks.

Crowd levels perked up a little on Friday as we headed into last weekend. Friday’s wait times were the highest since the previous Sunday. Pirates of the Caribbean averaged 34 minutes, Splash Mountain 68.

Saturday stands out as the largest crowd by far last week. Sunday through Friday no more than one park hit a level above ‘5’. On Saturday, all parks were ‘6’ or above. Animal Kingdom hit average waits as high as Easter week.

Once we pass Easter on the calendar wait times diminish substantially until Memorial Day weekend in May. Next week we expect the post-Easter lull to continue. That means low to moderate wait times during the week and higher waits on the weekends.
