Last week,¬†Universal Orlando Resort continued to lag behind historical levels for wait times at its two parks. Despite being the first week where nearly all schools out of of session, the crowd levels at Universal Parks stayed below a level ‘8’ all week.

Sunday’s crowd levels were about average for the year at both Universal parks, surprising for a weekend in summer. At Universal Studios we saw an average wait of 37 minutes at Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit while at Islands of Adventure, The Incredible Hulk Coaster averaged 36 minutes.

Monday’s crowds were significantly busier at Universal Studios but about the same at Islands of Adventure. Rip Ride Rockit averaged a 43 minute wait while Incredible Hulk averaged 38.

The Universal Crowd Calendar predicted level ‘8’s at both parks on Wednesday but the wait times we observed fell just short of those marks. The Simpsons Ride averaged 24 minutes while Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey averaged 38.

Again on Thursday we saw both parks fall short of historical averages for this time of year. Revenge of the Mummy averaged a 21-minute wait.

On Friday we saw similar wait times that we saw earlier in the week. Revenge of the Mummy averaged 20 minutes (predicted 22) while Forbidden Journey averaged 38 (50).

Independence Day. Unlike Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the Universal Parks were relatively quiet for July 4th. We saw average wait times that did not differ greatly from what we see on other days of the year.

Summer is a busy season at Universal but crowds have been down for several weeks. It may be that this summer is a great time to visit the Universal Parks if you wish to do so without extreme crowds.
