Food and Wine Festival Freebies

As the old saying goes, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. That’s certainly true during Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival–lunch (and dinner) is something you will have to spend money on to eat to your heart’s content. But there are a few freebies available for the asking, if you know where to look (and in some cases, are carrying the right card). Here’s some favorites.

The Bog is Back! After a brief hiatus, Ocean Spray has brought back they eye-catching cranberry bog located between Future World and World Showcase. To the left side of the bog as you are facing World Showcase, there is a small kiosk where they give away free single serving bags of Craisins dried cranberries. It is a great mid-morning snack while you are waiting for the festival booths to open.

Free Chocolate

In the back of the Festival Center is a display sponsored by Ghirardelli chocolate that has some amazing sculptures made of chocolate. That alone makes it well worth the visit, but as you go in, look for the attendant handing out free, individually wrapped pieces of Ghirardelli chocolate. It certainly is a sweet surprise.

Free beverages at the Chase Lounge (for card holders).

Upstairs in the American Adventure pavilion is a private lounge for people who have a Chase Visa or Debit card. In addition to the most important benefits (air conditioning, comfortable chairs, and electric outlets), there are also Coke Freestyle machines and Disney Infinity games for people to play. At random times during the day, the Chase Lounge offers a “Happy Half Hour”, where you can receive free adult beverages from a limited selection of beer and wine.

Make sure to have your membership card on hand to get your free drink.

Free Passport Souvenir.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, no trip to the Food and Wine Festival would be complete without grabbing a Passport. At each country, whether you buy food or drink from it or not, you can get a booth-specific stamp. In addition to this being a neat souvenir, it also gives you the list of items served at each booth. That list, and a bit of Google searching, can sometimes help you find recipes for the foods each year. At the very least, it can help you remember what you ate.

Free Port Wine Glass (for Annual Passholders)

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Food and Wine, there is an annual passholder perk: a free, engraved port wine glass. There is a catch, however. To get your free glass, you must get a free festival passport and bring it, along with your annual pass card and a photo ID, to Innoventions (between 11 AM and 7 PM) on three different days to get it stamped. On your third day’s visit, you will be given one port wine glass. Quantities are limited, so make sure to visit early and visit often.

This may be a silly question, but where do you get the free passport? I’m going to be in Disney next week and I would love to have one while I tour around World Showcase!

Not a silly question at all — you can get the passport pretty much everywhere. Almost every food booth will have them, any of the festival shops, people will be handing them out as you enter World Showcase. It’s hard not to get one. 🙂
