How Crowded Was Universal Orlando Last Week?

Universal Orlando was busier before December 23 than after. Saturday was the busiest day last week with Universal Studios hitting the top level on our scale and Islands of Adventure reaching a level ‘9’. Overall, wait times tended to be higher than what we normally see during the same week historically.

The Universal Crowd Calendar correctly predicted the crowd level at Islands of Adventure on Sunday but Universal Studios crowds were two steps higher than predicted. The Studios saw average wait times like 50 minutes at Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (predicted 39) and 59 at The Simpsons Ride (37).

Monday was the first sign of holiday crowd levels at Universal Orlando with both parks hitting high crowd levels. Islands of Adventure saw average wait times like 59 minutes at Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man (predicted 47).

Tuesday’s crowds were the same of what we saw on Monday. Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man averaged 63 minutes (predicted 50) and Revenge of the Mummy averaged 42 (39). Rip Ride Rockit was the only attraction at Universal Studios that didn’t hit a crowd level ’10’ although it did average a 57 minute wait.

Historically, Christmas Eve is not a busy day at Universal parks but this year at Universal Studios it was. We saw high average wait times like 66 minutes at The Simpsons Ride and 96 at Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.

Friday’s wait times were similar to what we saw the day before. The Simpsons Ride averaged 81 minutes while Despicable Me averaged 111 while Islands of Adventure was less crowded with averages like 55 minutes at Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Saturday saw a return to the high crowd levels that we saw on Monday and Tuesday. E.T. Adventure averaged 26 minutes and Transformers: The Ride-3D averaged 92.

December 27, 2015  to January 2, 2016

Universal Orlando will be very crowded this week, much like it was last week. New Years Eve is not nearly as crowded at Universal Orlando as it is across town at Walt Disney World.
