How Crowded Was Universal Orlando Last Week?

Last week, crowds at Universal Orlando stayed within reach of what the Universal Crowd Calendar predicted until Thursday when we saw three consecutive days of higher than expected crowds. The good news is that park crowd levels never went higher than a ‘7’ making for excellent touring conditions. Guests who used a touring plan probably never noticed the crowds at all.

Let’s look at how the crowd levels stacked up each day last week on the TouringPlans.com Universal Crowd Calendar Report:

Both Universal parks saw crowds in the bottom half of our scale on Sunday, a good sign for guests who chose to visit on a weekend. Wait time averages were quite low like 10 minutes at Shrek 4-D and 19 at The Simpsons Ride. Wait times were even lower at Islands of Adventure. Jurassic Park River Adventure was nearly a walk-on all day with an average wait of 9 minutes.

Wednesday’s crowds were very low but mostly due to the cool, rainy weather that swept through central Florida. Thunderstorms arrived early in the day convincing many guests to stay away from the parks. Those that went to the parks experienced some of the lowest average wait times we have seen in a while.

Thursday’s crowds were a few steps higher than predicted but that is likely due to the bounceback effect after a washed out Wednesday. Whenever we see low crowds on a poor weather day it often means higher crowds the following day, if the nice weather returns.

We will be there the 27th and the 29th. The calendar shows 4 and 5. So should we plan on 6 and 7? We will have express passes, so hopefully that will help.
