Universal Crowd Calendar Report

Universal Orlando Resort had surprisingly uncrowded parks between June 12 and 18, 2016, especially Tuesday through Saturday at Islands of Adventure. The Universal Crowd Calendar expected Islands of Adventure to keep pace with its sister park during the week now that a larger percentage of schools were out of session. Universal Studios is driving the resort-wide crowds with Islands of Adventure fading far behind.

Islands of Adventure saw wait times that matched what the Universal Crowd Calendar predicted but at Universal Studios we saw crowds three points higher that what the calendar predicted. The crowd level ‘7’ was led by average wait times like 45 minutes at Rip Ride Rockit and 103 minutes at Transformers: The Ride-3D.

Monday is a good example of what we saw at Universal Orlando all week. Universal Studios had a significantly higher crowd than history would suggest for a Monday in mid-June while Islands of Adventure had exactly the crowd level predicted by the Universal Crowd Calendar.

On Tuesday we saw the reverse of what we saw on Monday. The Universal Crowd Calendar correctly predicted the crowd level ‘8’ at Universal Studios but Islands of Adventure was a ‘5’ again.

Universal Studios was much busier than its sister park once again on Wednesday thanks to average wait times like 117 minutes at Transformers: The Ride-3D and 75 minutes at Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.

Islands of Adventure saw wait time averages like 10 minutes at Dragon Challenge (predicted 11) and 42 minutes at The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man (predicted 60) which meant crowds were much lower than we usually see on Thursday in June.

Friday’s crowds were the same as what we saw on Thursday and the predictions were the same as well which means UNiversal crowds continue to be stable at Universal Studios while Islands of Adventure lags behind.

Saturday saw the lowest crowds of the week resort-wide but especially at Universal Studios where Transformers: The Ride-3D averaged 43 minutes and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit averaged 32.
