In 2017, the NFL Pro Bowl comes to Orlando! The event will take place on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Camping World Stadium. To celebrate, the Walt Disney World Resort and the ESPN Wide World of Sports will be holding a few special and official activities for Guests to experience and get in on the fun.

For those of you who love to run (or walk), get ready to lace up those shoes, as Guests can participate in the Pro Bowl 5K. It will take place the last weekend in January and will be fun for the whole entire family with entertainment and merriment along the way. Registration for the Pro Bowl 5K Run will be available starting on October 25.

Want to catch the athletes preparing for the game? The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is the official practice site for the Pro Bowl so you can potentially catch your favorite football star in action.

Finally, favorite athletes will join Mickey and gang in a special parade down Main Street U.S.A.  in the Magic Kingdom to celebrate. In addition Disney Springs will feature additional entertainment offerings.

Any thoughts on how these events will affect crowd levels in the week leading up to the Pro Bowl?

I had the same question – will crowd levels predictions change based on this information. We are considering a trip that weekend and am interested in what could happen. Thanks.

I notice that they don’t say which days the 5k race and special parade will take place. Is that known? I assume the date of the race, at least, is set.

There was an extensive discussion about crowds on another forum, and the consensus was that the number of extra visitors to WDW will not be enough to make a significant difference in the parks, where we already have 100k+ per day spread out across the parks. The exception to that may be the special parade, which may bring out more locals with annual passes. But for other events, it may draw crowds away from the parks, so there may be a net benefit to the typical guest.

I want to know too! We booked the prior week Sun Jan 22- Fri Jan 27, and I’m wondering if we should switch to the next week. I have two young children and really want to avoid crowds in Magic Kingdom!! Please let us know touring plans!!
