In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of November 10, 2017

I feel like this week has been crazy! Every time I turned around, there was another ridiculous news story after another ridiculous news story. I almost couldn’t believe what I was reading.

Not to mention the other craziness on DisTwitter (well Twitter in general) when they increased the ability to now tweet with 280 characters. Let me just give my piece of unsolicited advice. Just because you now CAN post with 280 characters doesn’t mean you have to. We’ll just leave it at that.

This week, we have news about which studio Disney was in talks with, see a sneak preview of Coco, and learn about two new hotels for Universal Orlando! And that’s just to start with!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

So, what a crazy roller coaster it was this week! First Disney banned the LA Times from their movie previews based on an article that the company didn’t like the the newspaper published. Then the critics said they wouldn’t include Disney films in their awards considerations because of said newspaper ban, then Disney pulled back after the backlash and said that the LA Times could attend previews again.

In other bizarre Disney news this week….21st Century Fox considered selling some of their movies and TV properties to Disney. This news was all the rage on Twitter this week…that is until like 30 minutes later when we all learned that no…the talks were dead. How odd! What would you think if Disney really had bought Fox?

What the…a new patent could indicate that Disney is trying to control the weather. Sort of.

Forbes wrote a follow up article sharing more good points for why Walt Disney World and the Disney Company should lead the way for self driving cars. What do you think?

Giovanna Martins made history this weekend as top overall finisher at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. A huge congratulations to her!

Len’s making the article rounds! This week, TouringPlans was mentioned in a Southern Living article.

Thor: Ragnarok thundered into the box office this weekend! Did you see the film? What did you think?

Johnny Depp talked about his stint as Captain Jack Sparrow at Disneyland, but apparently he didn’t get the response he’d hoped for.

The Disney Holiday specials are coming! Which one are you looking forward to the most?

If you are excited about Coco, you’re going to want to view this exclusive clip from USA Today. Also, make sure to check out the final trailer, if you haven’t already.

This is cool. Blue Man Group will be offering a special autism-friendly show in December.

It now appears that Universal’s Dark Universe may be over before it even really started. What do you think about this turn of events?

Two new hotels were announced for the former Wet & Wild location! Oh and the best part is that they will be value hotels and will open the summer of 2019. I feel like I keep saying it, but things are getting interesting.

What?! You didn’t mention a whole new Star Wars Trilogy was announced this week. Kind of a big deal….

Hi Eric! Sorry that was missing this week. That news had come out after I had finalized and submitted this week’s edition of In Case You Missed It. i will definitely make sure to mention it on next week’s edition. (Cause, as you mentioned, it’s pretty big, and exciting news!)

Seeing as how there were reports of self driving vehicles crashing within 2 hours of its debut this week, I’m a firm NO.

The news of a deal (no deal?) with Fox makes for fun dreaming. I really like the Marvel universe and more ‘toys’ for them to play with would be fun. And, with the new Streaming service Disney is planning to offer in a few years, more content would be a smart strategy. I am rather sad this is all dead before anything came of it.
