In Case You Missed It: News and Rumors – Week of December 14, 2018

This week’s been a crazy one….I mean can you believe we are less than two weeks from Christmas? Who sped up time? Please tell it that I need more of it.

With that being said….one of my favorite things to do around the holiday season is to watch my favorite seasonal movies…and, as you can quickly see, I’m running out of time! So I want to know which one is your favorite to watch year after year.

This week, we break the internet with the Avengers: Endgame trailer, we see what changes have been made for Disneyland merchandise resellers, and more.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Holy wow! This. This right here is what a Disney attraction is supposed to be. Did you see the preview of the upcoming Beauty and the Beast attraction for Tokyo Disneyland? I am in awe. And I NEED to make a trip to Tokyo.

Speaking of incredible previews, what did you think of the one we got sharing the first look at the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?

If you are a reseller of Disney merchandise, you may get your Annual Pass revoked at Disneyland.

With the introduction of the new Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, The Orlando Sentinel takes a look at the transformation of the restaurant choices at Disney Springs. Which one is your favorite?

Curious to see what will become of this. Disney Research is using Artificial Intelligence to develop an event-based interactive storytelling system for virtual 3D environments, which allows the user to control the outcome of a story. (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, perhaps?)

Disney and Comcast both are set to dominate global content spending, thanks to the two lucrative deals both companies are going to be entering into.

Attention ‘Nsync fans! Joey Fatone is set to perform Candlelight Processional on December 24 and December 25. Now….how do I ditch my family on Christmas to go watch Joey perform as narrator? (She says….somewhat kidding.)

Some of these I haven’t seen. Biography shared some great photos of Walt building Disneyland.

Did you see the trailer for Avengers: Endgame? Well apparently you and everyone else did too. The film’s highly anticipated first trailer became the most-viewed trailer in history in its first 24 hours. What did you think about the trailer?

With the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns about to hit theaters, The Hollywood Reporter shared their thoughts of the original film, Mary Poppins.

They did it again. The Walt Disney Studios has once again hit the $7 Billion mark in global box office for 2018. (Oh and a little film called Mary Poppins Returns hasn’t even come out yet.)  This is only the second time in history any studio has surpassed the $7 billion mark.

I agree that passholders should only be able to buy a limited number of collectible items. I am sure it could be enforced by swiping the bands when items are purchased to prevent them going into another store and purchasing them again. I completely agree that this practice should be stopped although I was surprised that the people caught doing this weren’t given a warning to start with or that Disney didn’t publish something saying that this was what they were proposing to do. However, on the other hand, if I have bought a collectible item with my annual pass and 6 months/12 months/2 years down the line we no longer have a use for it – maybe we are moving house and having to de-clutter – why can’t it be put on eBay along with all the other stuff I am getting rid of? Would I be able to gift it to a charity shop? But then they would be selling it! Wouldn’t dare risking it now – as and when I need to get rid of any Disney item bought at a reduced price with my Annual Pass, I will probably throw it in the dustbin and let no-one enjoy it and add to the landfill problem?

I agree with Ruth. I also thought, when reading the article, that for most of the small-timers, a warning would have been appropriate before suspending the passes. Ruth’s point about what to do with stuff you purchased for personal use and decide you no longer need is interesting, but it seems like Disney’s probably focusing on people who advertise their services at this point, not someone with three Ebay listings of Disney parks stuff. Sounds more like they are trying to put the personal shoppers and Ebay resellers out of business. If you have a few various things on Ebay I doubt they’d bother you, but list 10 of the popcorn buckets that came out last week and you might get their attention.
