Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!

Ports of Call

Disney Cruise Line: In The News

Dates are official for the Disney Fantasy cruises this summer that will include Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Party at Sea. Guests sailing on the Fantasy between June 1 and August 31 will be guests at the party!

If you are already working on your packing list for your next cruise, you are going to want to check out Julia’s DCL packing guide – you may not need to take as much as you think!

Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel.  There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book.  These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:

Upcoming Entertainment

The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:

  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Avengers: Infinity War
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story
  • Incredibles 2
  • Ant-Man and The Wasp
  • Christopher Robin
  • The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
  • Ralph Breaks the Internet
  • Mary Poppins Returns

For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.

Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information

It’s Marathon weekend in Walt Disney World! What better way to reward your running efforts by….taking a cruise in order to do another race, of course!

On Monday, guests who ran at least one of the races at WDW, and are boarding the Disney Dream, had the opportunity to preregister for the Castaway Cay Challenge. The challenge part is simply that – at least one race at WDW, and then the Castaway Cay 5K! The reward – one seriously amazing medal. I mean, it has a ship on it. Pretty sure that makes it the best.

This race is not the same as the standard Castaway Cay 5K that is offered on (nearly) every visit to the island. On the day of the Challenge, the challenge race will take place earlier than the regular race – generally around 7 a.m.. The course is a bit different, too, as it begins on the airstrip instead of near the bike rentals. As this is an official runDisney race, the experience comes with many of the same bells and whistles runners may expect – DJ to pump you up, food boxes, characters along the way, and even real corrals! Of course, this means it also comes with the typical runDisney registration fee.

Registration is limited for this race, but you must have booked your cruise before you can sign up for the Challenge. If you miss the boat (pun intended), or you aren’t running in a WDW race, don’t worry, because the standard Castaway Cay 5K will still be run just a little later in the morning! This free race is still lots of fun, and everyone goes home with a DCL medallion – okay it’s really more like a rubbery plastic, but if you complete that sweaty, humidity-filled course, you deserve to flaunt that medallion with pride!

Anyone here running in the Castaway Cay Challenge? Good luck!!
