Are you hungry for some merchandise? The latest trend in Disney merchandise is a whole line of food-inspired merch. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Dole Whip fan with the best of them, but the whole “let’s make food-inspired merch a thing” is a little unusual, and something I thought I’d hate. But, honestly, some of these items are downright awesome. Let’s see what you think….
I’m not sure I get food plushies. Do people really cuddle up with a stuffed slice of pizza or Mickey bar? There’s a lot of them out there, though — and quite a few of them are scented. First up, partially eaten Mickey bars and Dole Whips.
Followed by pizza…
Candy apples and pretzels….
And yes, doughnuts.
Also on the “isn’t that special” list are some of the items of clothing, like these Sweet and Salty couple’s t-shirts.
And this kid’s shirt that I’m not sure if I should feel creeped out about if I see it on someone’s kid or not.
I do love a good pun, however, so I approve of this shirt — even if it isn’t my style.
Many of the food items that I could picture people actually enjoying are in the household goods section. This coaster set could be something that someone might bring back to their pet sitter or a school teacher. You can’t have too many coasters, right?
This hit my list as an awesome idea, until I thought about it fully. Popsicles are great, Mickey bars are great. But wouldn’t you be disappointed about a Mickey bar that tasted like a popsicle?
Also in the cute, but unusual category are these wine bottle stoppers — maybe for a bottle of chocolate wine?
I’m a die-hard Tervis convert, so I don’t do much with other types of collectible cups. For kids, however, these ice cream cups were pretty cute.
That said, I prefer the Dole Whip swirl (or float?) one more.
Speaking of cups, this etsy-inspired mug actually has a decent size handle to it — but I still need a much larger mug for my morning go-juice.
I’m not sure how practical they’d be, but I do like these food bag clips. I can never seem to find one when I need one.
Another thing I always love having on hand are serving bowls, and this design would be a cute one for snacks.
Another thing I love are pens, but stuff like this is what I expect to see at a take-out counter to try and make it too big to walk away with.
For the Dooney fans, this snack pattern is actually pretty nice–subtle enough to not draw attention right away, and I love the dark blue color.
Closer to my price range, but also cute in my mind is the churro pencil case. Not all that practical for my line of work, but cute, right?
When my daughter was younger, she spent a lot of time playing with a kitchen playset. There’s no doubt that if this product was out then, I would have grabbed it right away.
And now for the item that I’d be most likely to buy–what a joy to come home and have a Dole Whip doormat. Would this be something you’d put at your house?
And now for the item that is most likely to show up at the outlets…
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not outright opposed to light-up necklaces. I may have a Halloween and Christmas one in my holiday decor boxes. But a light-up necklace about….Disney food? That’s headed to the outlets or I’ll eat, well, one of those necklaces.
And there you have it, just a tasting platter of the food-based merchandise at Walt Disney World. See any must-haves? Let me know in the comments.
