Disney Cruise Line: In The News
Still riding the high of Avengers: Endgame? Counting down to your Marvel Day at Sea cruise? Disney has released some new character photos you can download and use as wallpaper on your mobile device. Who will you be repping?
Ashley Long, the current cruise director on the Disney Wonder, recently gave an interview to Reader’s Digest talking about what life is really like as a DCL employee. Goals after reading about Ashley’s experience: find a job you love as much as she does!
Here’s this week’s special offers. Most every week of the year, Disney Cruise Line releases special offers for Florida Residents and U.S. Military Personnel. There are also frequently IGT/OGT/VGT rates available for all guests to book. These offers are extremely limited in availability, and all come with certain restrictions, but the prices are amazing! You can book these online, on the phone, or with your travel agent. These are the current offers available this week:
The following films are being shown aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships this month:
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Solo: A Star Wars Story
- Incredibles 2
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Ralph Breaks the Internet
- Mary Poppins Returns
- Captain Marvel
- Disneynature: Penguins
- Avengers: Endgame
For future reference, films debut on Disney Cruise Line the same day of their initial release in the United States. Films do vary by ship. Show times are available in your Personal Navigator or the official Disney Cruise Line app.
Captain’s Log: Important Tips and Information
A Disney Cruise vacation is undoubtedly a top-notch vacation on its own. But if you are looking for the top of the top (no judgement), you can combine your Disney Cruise with various offerings from Adventures by Disney (ABD) to really create a vacation of a lifetime!
There are two types of ABD add-ons – by land, and by sea. Land add-ons are also knows as “short escapes”. These trips are run just like the typical regular-length ABD itineraries, just in a shorter period of time, and all in one location. The short escapes are typically 3-4 days long. You’ll spend your time with two amazing Adventure Guides, exploring the sights with VIP access to many experiences. Your adventure will include your daily activities, entrance fees/admission to the locations, luxury accommodations, and transportation. Since these short escapes are intended to precede your cruise, you will also be transported to the port on the last day of your adventure (which becomes the first day of your cruise so yay!!). The short escapes are available in Copenhagen, Disneyland/Southern California, Barcelona, Rome, and London.
The second option, known as a “cruise supplement”, takes your cruise port days to a whole new level of being immersed and spoiled. Think of the cruise package add-on as your port day all-inclusive. While this package includes some onboard activities like an embarkation welcome reception, farewell on the final evening, and perhaps some exclusive behind the scenes fun, your days at sea are largely on your own to relax and enjoy the gorgeous ship. But your port days will be full of fun, all part of your package. Your group will join the two Adventure Guides on a preplanned day of highlights of the each port, of course with VIP access, transportation, and lunch included. Not a single thing you need to do or plan for your days in port, just add on the package and ABD does the rest. Loads of luxury, zero hassle. These add-ons are available on select dates for Alaska, Eastern Caribbean, Western Caribbean, Northern Europe, and Mediterranean cruises. You can check out Erin Foster’s review from her Mediterranean add on here!
And of course there are more than 35 amazing standard Adventures on six continents. Yesterday ABD announced 2020 itineraries, including the exciting announcement of a “return” to Egypt in 2020! Starting on May 14, Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members can book new adventure dates two days before the general public.
Would you consider an ABD add-on to your cruise? Discuss in the comments!
