Our Choice for National Buttermilk Biscuit Day

May 14 is National Buttermilk Biscuit Day. When it comes to biscuits at Walt Disney World, there’s one place that immediately comes to everyone’s mind:

Homecomin’

Many Disney restaurants lose their luster once the initial hype after opening goes down, but Homecomin’ continues to be a favorite for out-of-town visitors and locals alike. Between fried chicken that is as good as the hype to some of the best mac ‘n’ cheese at Walt Disney world to an impressive array of unique moonshine cocktails, there’s plenty to love. But it’s National Buttermilk Biscuit Day, and this is truly one of the ways that Homecomin’ shines.

Biscuits are available on different forms on both their brunch and lunch/dinner menus.

On the brunch menu, you can go with very simple biscuits and jam (or sawmill gravy). Biscuits can also be ordered as a side at lunch or dinner. (Pro tip: Order a side of biscuits to go for the next day. Trust me on this one.)

Also on the brunch menu is the Hallelujah Biscuit, described as “an open-faced biscuit topped with Chef Art’s famous fried chicken, two over-easy eggs, pimento cheese, pecan-smoked bacon and smothered in sawmill gravy”. To me, I prefer biscuits with a lot less stuff on them, but if you’re looking for an intense biscuit experience, this is the one for you.

For lunch and dinner, some meals (like the world famous fried chicken) come with a biscuit as a side.
But the absolute most amazing biscuit dish on the menu, in my view, is the Thigh High Chicken Biscuits found on the appetizer menu. An order of this and a side of mac ‘n’ cheese is my idea of heaven. Here’s the official description: “Three biscuits topped with Chef Art’s famous fried chicken thighs and bread and butter pickles. Drizzled with hot honey.” WARNING: The next photo has been known to make people want to lick the screen. TouringPlans is not responsible for triggering sudden bursts of hunger or drooling.
Yes, they’re THAT good.
So if you want to celebrate National Buttermilk Biscuit Day, our recommendation is to make a stop by Homecomin’ — home of the best biscuits at Walt Disney World.
Have you been to Homecomin’? Are you a fan of their biscuits? What else on the menu are you craving right now? Let us know in the comments.

Readers in the NYC area should know that Art Smith has a newish restaurant in Grand Central Station (on the lower level) called Art Smith Bird and Whiskey. They serve the exact same biscuits as the ones at Homecomin’ at Disney Springs. They are equally amazing – perhaps more so because of the relative scarcity of good biscuits up North.

And I will neither confirm nor deny that I ate just those biscuits for dinner on Friday night. 🙂
