We may be crazy, but Forky is growing on us.
If you haven’t met him yet, Forky is a new character in the new Toy Story 4 film, being released on June 21. As we’ve seen on the early tie-in merchandise releases, Forky appears to be a taking a headlining role. We’ll admit that we were more than a little skeptical at first. I mean, it’s a fork. But if we can suspend disbelief and embrace a sentient Etch-A-Sketch, then why not make the leap to loving animate dinnerware.
One inevitable iteration of Forky is his appearance on a Disney cupcake. This version is found at All Star Movies resort for $5.49 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find it elsewhere in the near future. (Toy Story Land, anyone?)
As is our new practice, we’re keeping tabs on Disney cupcake measurements. Forky weighs in at a relatively petite Disney cupcake size of 5.4 ounces. (The plate weighs .2 ouncess.)
The toppings and embellishments, frosting, sprinkles, a hollow white chocolate Luxo ball, and a white chocolate portrait of Forky, weigh 3.5 ounces (again the plate is .2), which means that less than half the cupcake is actually cake.
The cake is a pleasantly balanced chocolate, filled with a few hundred tiny sprinkles that add a little crunch. The frosting is a mild vanilla buttercream, tinted to three primary Pixar colors. There’s nothing particularly notable about the flavor, but that may be exactly what you want for a finicky child.
The intact Forky cupcake is darling, but once the tiny sprinkles get mixed up with the icing, the colors get muddy very quickly. If your child has issues with food blending, that could spell trouble.
And speaking of trouble… We told you we were bonding with Forky.
Our intrepid reporter, Christina, even made him a TouringPlans tee and cap.
Is this a cupcake you’d try? How are you feeling about Forky? Any ideas about what we should call our Forky friend (keep it PG, please)? Let us know in the comments.
