Stay Hydrated in a Hurry at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Summer has arrived in central Florida and the intense humidity with it. This means many things: you won’t see my hair down until the beginning of November, nobody should walk past a window without SPF 50, and hydration is the most important thing to remember when you’re planning a trip to the parks. No joke. Hydration and your Touring Plan are necessary if you intend to have a good vacation.

This week was especially face-of-the-sun-ish. While walking through Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I was burning up and I saw lots of little ones with sweaty, red faces, which is never a good thing. I stopped at the first aid location at the front of the park (near Guest Services at DHS) and the cast member at the door confirmed that they have seen a spike in heat stroke and heat/sun-related issues.

I then decided to scope out every single location to get free self-serve water in Disney Hollywood Studios. You are not allowed to fill your personal water bottle directly from these containers, but you can fill the cups provided and transfer the cold water to your bottle. In my experience it’s always much colder than the water you’ll get from the fountains around the park.

As you may be aware, any quick service dining location will provide you with a free cup of ice or ice water any time you ask, but sometimes waiting in line takes longer than you need.

I wanted to know where I could get cold water FAST, without waiting and without paying $5.50 for one bottle of Smart Water. Turns out there are 3 such locations in the Studios. Again – these are in addition to any quick service location.

  • Trolley Car Café (Starbucks) on Hollywood Boulevard. You can find the free water and cups to your left if you enter from the Hollywood Blvd entrance.
  • PizzeRizzo in the Muppets Courtyard. The two water jugs and cups are in the corner just past the six registers. It’s a bit hidden when the restaurant is crowded, but they’re back there and you don’t have to go through a register.
  • Woody’s Lunch Box at Toy Story Land. Water and cups are located to the left of the registers near the utensils and condiments.

Timely article. I especially appreciate the photos. Could you expand on this idea to show the situation for the other 3 parks, in future blogs?

In the Backlot Express, the soda machines are out in the open, and one of the dispensers is for water, so you don’t have to stand in line at the counter. We often fill our water bottles with ice and water there.

They had this same glass water container immediately at the entrance of Sci diner to the right when were there in December so I’m sure it’s still there. Didn’t need the free water on our trip in June at HS bc we attended AH & has all the bottled watered we needed. 🙂

When using the walking path from HS to Beach Club last week we noticed a water bottle refill station at the new restrooms. It’s the only one I have seen on property. Maybe there are others?!?

I guess I didn’t mention it was the new restrooms near the bus stops.

I know that in line for the Navi boat ride in Pandora, there’s a water bottle filler with the water fountain. I also spotted one out in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. I love this trend. I do wonder if they’re moving slowly so as not to tick off Coca-Cola whose sales of bottled water might be impacted.
