Welcome to our monthly feature, the Disney Store merchandise report, where we look at merchandise that’s available in the physical store locations in the United States. There is some overlap on Disney-branded items with what’s offered in the stores in the Disney theme parks and resorts, and there is lots of overlap with what’s offered online at shopDisney.com, but not everything that’s online is in the stores, not everything that’s in the stores is online, not everything that’s in the stores is in the parks, and so on.
Photos of the in-store merchandise come from my “home” Disney Store location, the flagship store in Times Square, New York City.
Halloween has completely taken over the Disney Stores. We saw some costumes arriving last month, but nearly the entire store is now Halloween-related merchandise, primarily costumes. The stores have a few adult costumes, including the “ballerina villain” dresses we saw at Disney Springs last week, but most of the costumes are for children, from infants up to late elementary school sizes. In addition to added costume options for Halloween, the store continued to stock the usual princess garb and the Descendants clothing that was added during the summer.
Other Halloween Items
The Halloween merch is is not just confined to costumes. There are some regular clothes with a Halloween twist, as well as housewares and decor items. Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, and Haunted Mansion items are mixed in among the Halloween gear.
As always, there is large selection of plush toys in the store. Some older items were listed at 40% off.
My Disney Store had a large selection of Star Wars-themed LEGO sets on the shelves, including the once hard-to-find $800 massive Millennium Falcon kit.
Cozier clothing such as jackets, sweaters, and flannel shirts is showing up in the Disney Stores now.
There were signs throughout the store promoting a sweepstakes running throughout September 2019 – win a trip for four to New York City, plus a $1000 Disney Store shopping spree. Text MAGIC to 83054 to enter.
Check back next month to see if there’s still Halloween everywhere or if some of the merchandise has changed over to Christmas gear!
