REVIEW – BoardWalk Bakery Kicks Off the New Year with a Bang

At Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort and the surrounding area, there are plenty of dining options. The BoardWalk Bakery is a staple. Here you can pick up salads, sandwiches, and plenty of baked goods. There are great seasonal options throughout the year, too. Chrissy on our team kicked off 2021 with a visit to BoardWalk Bakery. Let’s see why it was a great way to start the year.

The menu at BoardWalk Bakery changes from time to time based on the season, but there are a few staples such as the Chicken Caesar Salad. We have ratings and rankings for all Walt Disney World restaurants, and our readers give BoardWalk Bakery a 91% thumbs up rating. It is ranked number 25 out of 106 quick service options.

Mobile ordering is offered, but not all of the available items are listed in the mobile ordering. Two of the items Chrissy ordered did not show up in the app. It is a walk-up order venue with no inside dining. The display case shows off all the available options. One down side of this venue is it can only be accessed from outside, from the boardwalk along Crescent Lake behind the hotel. So if you are staying at the resort there is no way to get to it from inside the building, meaning you’ll need to face the Florida elements to get your breakfast, lunch, or dinner here.

The Chicken Caesar Salad is $11.79. The grilled chicken was better quality than the chilled, grilled chicken served at most Disney quick service locations. The romaine was fresh and crisp. The dressing was thick and creamy. Other than that there is not much to this salad, nothing to give it a signature taste. But it satisfied.

The Spinach Salad was the hit of the meal. A hearty bed of fresh spinach was topped with blueberries, strawberries, and a granola nut mix with candied walnuts and pumpkin seeds. The strawberry dressing brought it all together. This is great fuel to keep you going in the parks or just enjoying the BoardWalk Resort.

Specialty, seasonal cupcakes are offered throughout the year. Practically every holiday is celebrated with a cupcake of some kind here. For the New Year a Strawberries and Champagne Cupcake was offered. The vanilla cake and buttercream frosting were both sweet and sugary, but the star was the strawberries and champagne filling. If only there had been more of it. For $5.99 it is a good, standard seasonal cupcake and fun way to celebrate 2021.
