Six Places For a Quick Breakfast in Animal Kingdom

When you’re heading to the parks early, sometimes your first breakfast is a granola bar on the bus. But once the rush of rope drop and those first couple of rides are over, you might want to search out something a little more substantial. If you’re looking for a sit-down breakfast at Animal Kingdom then Tusker House is your option, but today we’re going to focus on Quick Service. Animal Kingdom has five locations offering Quick Service breakfast, and you can’t go wrong with any of them.

When to pause for food is a contest between your stomach and the lure of short waits. We recommend not stopping during Early Entry or for at least half an hour after regular park opening, so that you can take advantage of short lines. Once you see the wait times starting to get long, pick your time to take a break and get food. Don’t forget that food and drink are allowed in the outdoor portions of a queue, so if someone in your group isn’t quite done you can get on the move and bring it with you. Many of the items below will qualify as snacks on the 2024 Disney Dining Plan.

Creature Comforts

If you’re heading left to Africa as you enter the park, Creature Comforts will be one of the first dining locations you run across. It’s the park’s Starbucks location, and will have all your Starbucks favorite breakfast sandwiches and pastries. (Menu here.) There’s no Mobile Order available, but the line moves quickly.

Creature Comforts is open during Early Entry. But unless you need the caffeine to stave off a raging migraine we do not recommend spending your prime ride time here, no matter how fast the lines are moving. Plus, you can get Starbucks anywhere. If you keep going a little farther, there’s another bakery worth your time …

Kusafiri Bakery and Coffee Shop

As you enter Africa, you will be greeted by the Kusafiri Bakery and Coffee Shop. Kusafiri has a bakery case that will make your mouth water, but they also have savory options. (menu) And if you are a coffee partisan, Joffrey’s is the brand on sale here. One of the classics at Kusafiri is the Mickey-shaped Colossal Cinnamon Roll. If you’re looking for something on the savory side, we like the Breakfast Totchos. Pro tip: ask when ordering if there are any pastries that aren’t on the posted menu — there often are!

Kusafiri is on the left of the main drag in Africa, just after you pass the Dawa Bar and Tusker House. It’s a walk-up window, not a walk-in location, but there’s lots of seating next door at the Dawa Bar. Kusafiri does not have Mobile Ordering, but the (usually) short wait is well worth it. If the wait is longer, Tamu Tamu might have a shorter line and the items you’re looking for.

Tamu Tamu Refreshments

Just after the bridge from Discovery Island to Africa, even before you get to Kusafiri, you’ll find Tamu Tamu Refreshments on the right. (menu) Tamu Tamu has almost all the same bakery items as Kusafiri (including the Colossal Cinnamon Roll), and it has the same Joffrey’s coffee offerings. The savory items have been swapped out: Tamu Tamu’s lone savory offering is a Sausage, Egg & Cheese biscuit.

Tamu Tamu also doesn’t have Mobile Order available. The line forms around one side of the building, then you move around the corner of the building to pick up. Tamu Tamu has seating in a courtyard behind its storefront, or you can take your breakfast over to the seating area for the Dawa Bar.

Isle of Java

If you turn right towards Asia at Discovery Island, you’ll be heading towards Isle of Java. You’ll need to make a slight turn towards Dinoland as Isle of Java is to the right of Flame Tree Barbecue. Isle of Java sells coffee (shocker!) and Joffrey’s is the brand of choice here. The savory item is the same Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit that’s available at Tamu Tamu. (menu)

And now I want you to pay close attention, because Isle of Java also sells a cinnamon roll, but it is not the same Mickey-head one that is available in Africa. The Colossal Frosted Cinnamon roll might be better named the colossally frosted cinnamon roll, because there is no shortage of the white stuff. But it is delicious and we are here for it! It’s also important to note that if you can’t wait for official snack time when the snack carts open, Mickey Pretzels and Churros are on the breakfast menu at Isle of Java. Mobile Order is not available, but the line is usually short.

Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes

At the back of the park in Asia, your breakfast option is the Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes. The offerings here are fairly standard breakfast bowls with eggs and potatoes, or egg on a muffin with optional sausage. (menu) We’ll be honest, this isn’t our favorite. It’s fine, but you can do better. If you must, consider the Pancake and Sausage Stick from the kid’s section – it’s at least a fun option that we can get behind. Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes does not have Mobile Order.

Pongu Pongu

Should you find yourself in Pandora when the breakfast moment strikes, Pongu Pongu has some well-loved favorites. (menu) Marshall’s Favorite Stuffed Pancake Sandwich with Sausage, Guava Jelly, Egg, and Cheese is a love it or leave it choice, but the Pongu Lumpia is a staple of best-snacks-at-Disney-World lists. Another best-list item here is the Night Blossom mocktail, which is Apple and Desert Pear Limeade topped with Boba — and it tastes as good as it looks. Pongu Pongu does not offer Mobile Order, but the line (if there is one) moves very quickly.
