REVIEW – La Hacienda de San Angel Delivers a Delightful Dinner

The Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT is an area that many guests could spend hours in. With a ride, exhibits, shopping, tequila bar, and dining, there’s lots to enjoy. There are two table service restaurants here, one that is traditional and another that offers a slightly more contemporary atmosphere and menu. San Angel Inn Restaurante is located inside the pyramid style building and overlooks Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride. La Hacienda de San Angel is part of the same building as the Cantina quick service, both of which overlook World Showcase lagoon. Chrissy and her family snagged a last minute reservation at La Hacienda de San Angel and fell under its enchantment.

Not as many guests know about La Hacienda de San Angel since San Angel Inn tends to steal the thunder with its boat ride views. La Hacienda de San Angel feels new, but it’s actually been open for ten years now – time flies when you’re having a fiesta.

After securing her reservation Chrissy took to our Instagram channel to have our followers decide what she should try. Here’s what Chrissy ordered:

  • Flautas – Fried Tortillas with Potato, Chipotle Chicken, Cheese, and Ranchera Sauce $13.50
  • Pollo Poblano – Roasted Chicken Breast with a Poblano Cream Sauce, served with Brussels Sprouts, Sweet Potatoes and Oyster Mushrooms – $29.00
  • Tres Leches -Milk-Soaked Sponge Cake topped with Meringue – $10.00

Up first to start the meal, the Flautas. Chrissy described them as an “air fryer owner’s dream” because they were very light and crunchy, without being greasy. They were a little messy with lots of queso fresco on topped. The chipotle chicken and potatoes inside were very flavorful and not spicy at all. The portion was sharable among three people.

The Pollo Poblano looked like a family-style meal when it was present to Chrissy and her family. The chicken itself is on its own plate with Poblano Cream Sauce, Brussels Sprouts, Sweet Potatoes and Oyster Mushrooms. Sounds very different doesn’t it? Then there was a bowl of seasoned rice, a bowl of black beans, and a plate of tortillas. The Poblano Cream Sauce is the new hit on Chrissy’s list of favorite things. The kind Cast Member offered as many tortillas as she desired, and more sauce too if she wished. It’s that good!

It’s hard to leave room for dessert, but it will be worth it if you order the Tres Leches. Chrissy is officially in love with it! The serving was large, and the torched meringue adds an unexpcted upgrade to this already delicious dessert. Tres Leches is a traditional Latin dessert of cake soaked in condensed milk. It is usually sweet and not just moist, it’s wet.

The dining room is indoors, there is no outdoor seating. There are large windows that overlook the lagoon. Chrissy reports that tables are spaced out generously. There is currently no Annual Passholder discount, but there is for Disney Vacation Club Members. And as you might expect, chips and salsa are brought to your table once you are seated – so come ready to eat!
