Everything You Need to Know (That We Know So Far) About Disneyland Resort’s Reopening

Disneyland Resort will be reopening on April 30! That we, of course, already knew. But what do we need to know in order to be able to buy tickets, what will dining look like, will park hopping be available, etc? Well, we have the details for you and are here to break it all down!

First, the parks will reopen with enhanced health and safety measures in place. In addition, as a reminder, the parks will reopen with limited capacity. To manage this, a new theme park reservation system will be utilized that will require all Guests to obtain a reservation for park entry. These reservations will need to be made in advance, for specific dates only, and will be available online. And yes, they will be subject to availability.

To enter either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, both a theme park reservation and valid admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Also, as a reminder, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households. This is all in line with current state guidelines.

So, when will the theme park reservation system launch? Technically, that date is April 12! Guests with existing valid theme park tickets can begin making park reservations on that day for the days that their ticket is valid. Theme park ticket sales will resume on April 15. That is when Guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations. As a reminder, ticket expiration dates were extended for many outstanding tickets. To accommodate as many types of ticket holders as possible, park reservations for select dates may be made available on a rolling basis. Ticket calendars will be updated on a rolling basis. You will want to keep checking for updated availability.

Here are some key dates to remember:

• April 9: Those who currently have theme park tickets, can check available days for your ticket type beginning April 9 at Disneyland.com/ParksUpdates.
• April 12: The theme park reservation system will open no earlier than 8 a.m. PT. Guests who already have valid theme park tickets may begin making park reservations.
• April 15: Theme park ticket sales will resume no earlier than 8 a.m. PT. Guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations.

Guests will want to be sure to log in to their Disney account first to link valid theme park tickets prior to accessing the park reservation system.

Guests with valid theme park admission tickets who are planning a stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will also need to book a theme park reservation. That’s because a hotel stay does not guarantee that a Guests will be able to obtain a theme park reservation. If you are planning to visit the theme parks during your stay, you should make sure that you can secure your theme park reservation prior to making your hotel reservation.

What if you have a Park Hopper tickets? You’ll need to make a reservation, choosing which theme park you want to start your day in. Then beginning at 1:00 p.m. that day, you’ll have the ability to park hop.

Guests with multi-day tickets will be required to make a separate park reservation for each day they plan to visit the theme parks.

Daily theme park hours for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will remain consistent. The parks are currently planning to be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Guests looking to visit the theme parks will be able to park at either the Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals parking structures.

For a contactless and cashless experience, Guests looking to enjoy quick service meals will want to utilize the mobile order service, which can be found in the Disneyland App. Disney plans to reopen dining bookings for select locations on April 22, with limited capacity. Guests will be able to book dining reservation 60 days in advance.

We have previously shared that when the parks reopen, FASTPASS and Disney MaxPass will not available for purchase or use. In addition, Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour offerings will be suspended upon reopening of our hotels and theme parks as capacity is managed.

Other changes include the fact that parades and nighttime spectaculars, character greetings (in the traditional way), the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and Single Rider lines will not be available.

Temperature checks will still be required, as will wearing face coverings for Guests ages 2 and up.
