8 Changes We Saw at Walt Disney World This Week, July 11, 2021

Our in-parks team is in Disney theme parks every week recording wait times, trying food, soaking in the atmosphere, and looking for any changes that might impact your vacation. Here’s eight changes that stood out to us this week.

What the Heck is Going on with Mobile Order at EPCOT?

Earlier this week, we saw that Sommerfest and Yorkshire County Fish Shop had been added to mobile order. Then at the end of the week, we saw Sunshine Seasons had been removed. My opinion? Once you’ve added something to mobile order, there’s no reason to get rid of it from there, even if you add in-person ordering back.

The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is Back!

So happy to see Main Street at the Magic Kingdom coming back to life with the return of Casey’s Corner last week and now the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. And yes, it is as good as you remember.

Golden Oak Outpost also Reopens

Speaking of reopening in Magic Kingdom, Golden Oak Outpost has also reopened for a quick bite. Our favorite choice there, however? The Sweet Tea Slush. Yummers!

New Food Comes to Batuu

Lots of food news this week. Several new items made their debut at Docking Bay 7. We loved the beef dish and the spicy chicken dish, but were less impressed with the dessert.

Food and Wine Festival Booths are Getting Ready

Hard to believe we’re this close to the start of Food and Wine, but here we are. Food booths are getting prepped for the big day — next Thursday, July 15.

Star Festival Display at Mitsukoshi

Over in the Japan pavilion at the Mitsukoshi department store, make sure to check out the information about the Star Festival. I’m a big fan when there’s additions to the international pavilions to honor special events.

EPCOT Is Getting More Colorful

There must have been a discount on brightly colored paints. The ticket booths out front of EPCOT have gotten a new paint job, as have the restrooms on the Camera Center side of Spaceship Earth. Very bold and striking and such an 80s vibe!

Construction Continues at the Polynesian

I know it will be beautiful when it is finished, but right now the front of the Polynesian is a mess. Then again, being of a similar age to the Polynesian, this is probably about the amount of cosmetic work I’d need, too.

‘Ohana Has Reopened for Breakfast and Dinner

We’ll have a detailed review later, but ‘Ohana is now open for breakfast and dinner. And although there’s some winning options on the menu, overall the food is pretty lackluster.

Imagineers, 1978: Let’s carefully design EPCOT Center color schemes so the pavement and walls all work together to look good on film and give the park a polished futuristic look.
Imagineers, 2021: Epcot’s from the 80’s, I think. Let’s throw some neon paint on things.
