8 Changes We Saw at Walt Disney World This Week, September 19, 2021

Our in-parks team is in Disney theme parks every week recording wait times, trying food, soaking in the atmosphere, and looking for any changes that might impact your vacation. Here’s eight changes that stood out to us this week.

More Disney Statues!

In preparation for the 50th celebration, more statues have been popping up around Walt Disney World, and statues can be found now in all four theme parks.

50th Monorail Wrap. . . ish?

Appropriately, Monorail Gold received the 50th Anniversary wrap featuring Mickey and Minnie, but it seemed a bit . . . incomplete feeling? I have a feeling they wanted to show the gold of the monorail, and yet only partially wrapping the monorail feels a bit unfinished. What do you think?

More Lightning Lane Signs

Ready or not, here it comes. Lightning Lane signs have been going up all around Walt Disney World.

Creations Store Opens

The Creations Shop, the new main store for EPCOT that replaces the now-extinct MouseGear opened this week. Crowds were brisk on the first day, but cast members did a remarkable job of restocking merchandise.

Club Cool Opens

Also up in Future World at EPCOT, Club Cool, with its varieties of soda from around the world that is free to try, also reopened in its new location this week.

EPCOT Popcorn Stand Opens

Finally, in that same general area, the popcorn stand in Future World has opened. I still miss the flavored popcorn that you used to be able to get outside the Imagination pavilion, though. . .

New 50th Popcorn Box

Speaking of popcorn, the new 50th anniversary popcorn boxes are out, and they are gorgeous. Are you a fan of this design? I think it’s the bright blue color that really is appealing to me.

Topiary and Cake at Magic Kingdom

And, finally for this week, out front of the entrance to Magic Kingdom, a Mickey and Minnie topiary, along with a celebratory cake, have been placed for photo ops to celebrate this milestone anniversary.

That’s it for this week. Which detail are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments.

We saw the Gold Monorail, and I too thought it looked a bit unfinished. Especially since the color is Earidescent for the 50th. My wife however thought it was very vibrant.

Gees, their cake was much bigger for the 25th Anniversary.
