Ask It: Disney and Rose Gold, Hot or Not?

As evidenced by my current outfit of acid-washed jeans with leg warmers and a Hypercolor, I’m an expert on all things trendy. (At least I’m hoping that it’s been long enough that all this is in style again, right?)

Okay, truth told, I’m not the world’s expert on all things fashionable or trendy. Technically, I have an Instagram account, and I think I have posted one picture as a test to see how one does that. (On the other hand, I have to give mad kudos to the TouringPlans Instagram gurus–you all rock!) But as un-hip to the latest trends as I am, I’ve been unable to ignore the rose gold craze at Walt Disney World. Rose gold Minnie ears probably outnumber every other kind that you see in the park. (You know some Glow with the Show designer is in a corner crying somewhere.) But wait, don’t want Rose Gold Minnie Ears? How about spirit jerseys, cupcakes, and even churros. Rose gold mania is a thing–but it has been going on for more than a cable news cycle. So this week we’re asking you:

Are Disney rose gold merchandise and food still trendy or have they lost their luster?

  • Still trendy (40%, 119 Votes)
  • Never were cool (36%, 107 Votes)
  • Lost their luster (24%, 73 Votes)

Voting is open here and on Twitter. We’ll have your results next week. In the meantime, let us know in the comments if you have purchased any of the Disney merch or food in the rose gold theme. Or let me know if you still have a Hypercolor t-shirt. If you do, you might be my long-lost ultra-cool BFF! (That’s how the kids say things like that, right?)

  • Wasn’t this color hot in the 60’s? I ask because I’d swear I remember my grandparent’s bathroom that shade of pink.

  • Looks like you dropped something pink in the dirt.

  • I voted “Still Trendy” because it is, not because I like it. The rose gold ears were cute, but the sweatshirts are ugly and it’s been taken way over the top with the cupcakes, churros and all the other non-sense.

  • I do still have a Hypercolor shirt. It no longer works, though.

And I have the rose gold Minnie ears!
