It seems 2016 is an unforgettable year. Events and memories that happened this year are unlike previous years. Yet each week, we the Best Week Ever team found ways to make the most of it. Each week we aim to share with you the moments that make being in the theme parks so enjoyable and wonderful. Perhaps this year, more than ever, it became increasingly important to make our visits the best week ever. We are grateful for the time we spent in the parks this year and we want to share with you our favorite moments of Best Week Ever 2016. You’ll hear from all three of us as we each select three of our favorite Best Week Ever posts from this year.

This year I focused on growth and dealing with fear. Theme parks offer us entertainment and escapism, but they can also offer teaching moments. My desire to deal with and overcome fear started as a spark at the end of 2015, but grew into a warm, bright flame in 2016. By pushing myself to go on rides and try experiences I’d otherwise avoid, I’ve learned that fear never actually goes away. Instead we can accept it, acknowledge it, and ultimately realize most things are never as bad as we imagine them to be. And by opening myself up to new experiences I gained a new level of appreciation for my hometown, Orlando, and all that the theme parks offer.

2016 was such a wild ride. I started the year off missing Best Week Ever and my Touring Plans family, but towards the end of the summer I found my way back. I learned that sometimes choices have to be made for your own personal happiness. While other people might not understand, you and you alone are responsible for shaping your life into what you want it to be. I’m so fortunate and thankful that I was able to make the changes I needed to stay in Orlando. I’m also thankful for all the travel opportunities I’ve been blessed with this year. Lastly, a personal tradition that I haven’t shared with you guys before is picking a favorite photo for the year. I’ve included my choice over to the right. Maybe I’m partial because I remember the magical night it was taken, but I can feel the pixie dust!

Wait a minute, Dani and Daisy… we probably should hold off on writing this until we get to the end of 2016, right? What do you mean 2016 almost over? Where did 2016 go?? I suppose 2016 fits that old motto of “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun”. With the family in tow, I had a blast in and out of the parks, whether popping in for the day or doing short staycations. We visited South of the Border and tried boiled p-nuts on one end of the vacation standard spectrum and sailed away on the Dream on the other. We moved to Florida for better quality of life and family time, and I think that’s what pops up time and time again as my best of the bests. Spending family time and sharing joy with everyone (including all the great laughs we got this year with our homemade Duck, Duck, Goose costumes) made every week the best week ever for us.
Thanks for checking out our Best of Best Week Ever 2016. Next week Dani shares her Best Week Ever adventures in a three bedroom grand villa at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, as well as some delectable Disney dining destinations. And then we’ll start 2017 with the three of us coming together again to bring you our resolutions that will help us continue to make our upcoming year in the theme parks the best ever! Happy Holidays!
