In Case You Missed It!

This is it…the last “weekend of Summer,” unofficially of course. I hope you’ve got a ton of fun plans to take advantage of this long weekend. So, start it right! (We both know you stopped officially working hours ago in excitement of the holiday weekend.)

Read about the interesting things that I came across this week that I wanted to share with you, including a peek of the upcoming Inside Out, a Schoohouse Rock TV special, and more!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Hmmm…interesting…Disney could potentially use drones at the theme parks in the future…what do you think a creative use for this technology could be?

While Villains Unleashed had a few hiccups (ok…maybe more than a few) I found one thing that’s kind of fun. If you enjoyed the dance mix from the evening, here it is…all five sets. I think I’ve found my new running tracks…

I have been thinking about this for a while…Epcot offers up a ton of great dining options, but many wish that some places were better (ahem…I’m looking at you China Pavilion) or are restaurants that feature items that we have on every corner now. The article points out that for the most part, Epcot food is actually just supposed to be an introduction to unique foods you can find all over the world (or in our neighborhoods) and maybe entices us to try them.  I think this is especially true with something like the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. For the most part, it isn’t going to be “the best” version of whatever it is you’re eating, but the goal is to get you to maybe try things you wouldn’t have. Overall though, Epcot is teaching us to love international foods, as the author suggests.

Here’s supposedly where history began. A photo of the first ticket to Disneyland.

So, who else grew up on “Schoolhouse Rock” teaching us fun tidbits? On September 7, ABC is going to air a special picking out the best of the best in “The ABCs of Schoolhouse Rock.” What’s your favorite? I’m partial to “I’m Just A Bill.”

Are you a fan of animals dressed as Disney characters? Well, get ready, because Animal Planet is set to air a TV special with pets dressed up as Disney’s finest for Halloween!

If you are excited to see information about the upcoming Pixar flick, Inside Out, then make sure to check out your Disney Movies Anywhere app. Or check out this article with lots of screen grabs. Plus, get the first glimpse of the main human character, a girl named Riley. She’s a cutie!

Oh my gosh! Winston is so adorable! Who’s Winston? He’s the dog character in the upcoming short “Feast” which will be played ahead of Big Hero 6. Get to know a little bit more about Winston and his story in USA Today.

Could there be a new Steve Martin/Disney collaboration? /Film says it’s in the works and called “Magic Camp.” Martin got his start by working at Disneyland, where he could be found in the Magic Shop.

Guardians of the Galaxy has officially become the number one movie of the summer in the U.S.! Are you surprised to see it pull this off and so quickly?

Related to that, Disney has had three of the Top 10 movies in terms of box office this year so far. Can you guess what the other two are, before clicking the link?

It’s Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary…so that means the articles about the movie have started surfacing, including this unique theory about the movie. It’s probably all hogwash…especially given what we know from history about the making of the movie and such, but could there just be something behind Bert and Mary’s relationship? Their connection is a mystery…never is it explained anywhere. While this theory is likely not even remotely true, it’s all in Jolly Holiday fun.

Anyone who’s read the Mary Poppins books (or even just the first one) will know that theory does not hold up. As for the relationship between Mary and Bert, in the books they were “walking out”. Bert loves her, although Mary’s feelings are a little less obvious. When they made the film they deliberatly left this relationship out but it still feels like there should be something there.

I confess, that I’ve never read the book, but the film version really does pull on our heart strings that little bit harder.
It’s a fabulous metaphor, showing kids that great people come into our lives, but can’t always be there for us.
If Mary and Bert had hinted at that relationship, it could easily have confused the underlying message that the Mary Poppins movie so beautifully portrays.

      Disney at its best!
