Disney Cruise Line in a Jiffy: What is a Funnel Suite?

The Tower Suite, or Funnel Suite, is the most unique stateroom on any Disney Cruise Line ship that has one. You may ask how we can be so sure? Simple: there’s never more than one Tower Suite per ship! These luxurious two-story staterooms, tucked into a funnel, are about 2,000 square feet and sleep 8. They’re some of the most exclusive staterooms on Disney Cruise Line, starting at about $20,000 per cruise. What might make it worth that price tag? Read on to find out.

Disney Cruise Line’s iconic red funnels are a tribute to classic ocean liners of the past. But only the aft (rear) funnel is functional—the forward funnel has always been decorative. On the Magic- and Dream-class ships, these forward funnels held kids’ clubs and lounges at launch.

In May 2021, Disney Cruise Line announced a different plan for the upcoming Disney Wish. The forward funnel of the Wish would have a new category of concierge stateroom: the Tower Suite. It would be two stories, sleeping 8 in 2 main bedrooms, a children’s room, and a convertible library/bedroom designed for accessibility. Beyond the bedrooms, the suites would have spacious living areas, a bar/pantry, and 4.5 bathrooms.

Concierge staterooms already have upgraded amenities compared to regular staterooms. Tower Suite guests have a few additions to the list, including a complimentary top-tier internet package. What’s not included? Although you’ll get priority when making reservations for Port Adventures, spa services, or upcharge dining, you’ll still have to pay for them.

Three ships currently feature a Tower Suite, with two more to join them by the end of 2025. The Disney Wish and her sister, the Disney Treasure, were built with Tower Suites in the forward funnel. The same goes for the Wish-class Destiny, launching in November 2025. A Tower Suite was retrofitted to the Dream in her 2024 drydock; the Fantasy will receive the same update in 2025.

The theming is different for each of the Wish-class Tower Suites. The Wish theme is Moana, the Treasure, EPCOT, and the Destiny’s Tower Suite is Marvel-inspired. Both the Dream and Fantasy Tower Suites are Fantasia-themed. One stunning feature of the Tower Suites is the multi-story floor-to-ceiling windows in the main living area. These windows are deck-facing and give a unique view, but the tradeoff is that there is no verandah. Guests who have sailed in these suites report that the windows are wide enough to allow a good view over the ocean as well.

A common concern is privacy; if you can see out to the deck, can those on the deck see in? The answer is: maybe. The windows are fitted with both sheer and blackout shades. During the day, the sheer is generally sufficient for privacy, without impeding the view out. But at night, guests will be able to see in from some locations if the lights are on, unless the blackout shades are in use. On the Dream, the window is tinted to provide increased privacy.

The cost to book a Disney Cruise Line Tower Suite depends on the ship and itinerary. But even though prices start at about $20K, these suites are often booked out well in advance. They should become easier to book as more become available across the fleet, but it’s likely these exclusive spaces will remain in high demand.
