Disney Springs Has a Big New Hit- Level 99

Disney Springs has a new kid on the block, and it’s going to be a big hit! Level 99 is a place to put the phone down and really play. Everything from brain teasers to running through swinging axes. Level 99 is an amazing space filled with challenge rooms, fabulously fun art, and top-tier food and drink menus.

This Nina Game requires agility, strategic thinking, and for some, a sense of humor.

Games

Sure, the Axe Run looks intimidating, and it is! But we laughed so hard the whole time we explored Level 99. We were invited to a pre-view (this is a third-party company, Disney would never invite us). There are 64 activities on two levels of fun. The centerpiece of it all is the Axe Run, where you try to stay on a beam and not be knocked off by axes, and wait, they time you too! But don’t be intimidated, most of the challenges are easier, and even more fun.

There are physical challenges and mental challenges, and many that test you on every level. The games are only 1-4 minutes long. At every turn, the creativity is out of this world, but that’s to be expected, the founder is a former Imagineer.

Lightning is a race to get all the targets before your competition. This is one of only a few games outside of a small room.

My favorite (I’m a mom in my 50’s) was Lightning. This game is very physical. We played with 2 players, one on each side, racing to hit the lit target before the competitor on the other side grabs it first. We were both out of breath from the game and all of the laughter.

TIP- Thankfully, they don’t charge per game. For most of the challenges, we had to do it once to figure it out, then go in again to play for real. We found the instructions and hints lacking, but after playing the game, the hints made more sense. I’m not sure what that looks like with real crowds.

Lockers are free- You will be happy to have one, because you need both hands!

The Details of Level 99

Price- First 90 minutes- M-Th $29.99, F-Sa $39.99, Sun $35.99, Holidays $39.99

2.5-hour ticket $39.99-49.99

Premium Pass Upgrade– an additional $19.99

You can suspend play if you need to eat or use the bathroom, but I recommend planning to eat or drink before or after playtime.

Location- Disney Springs, next to m&m’s store on the West Side

Ages- The website says 11 and up. This mom thinks generally 13 and up, but every family knows their kid. Much of it is more sophisticated thinking and physical skills, it could frustrate a younger person.

Lockers- Lockers are completely free and absolutely recommended.

Wristbands- They will give each player a wristband to activate the challenge rooms, keep track of time, and record the points they earn. Yes, there are prizes (these were not ready at our preview). The Premium upgrade includes a fancy, reusable wristband.

Do you have to buy playtime? No, you can come in to eat, drink, or look around for free.

Hot Honey Whipped Feta and Birria Street Tacos- Both are AMAZING!

Food and Drink

Oh my- the food is GREAT. Everything is made in-house, even the grenadine at the bar. We tried some really fun bites.  Hot Honey Whipped Feta with sweet potato chips, which we loved, served as a chip-and-dip for $13. Ahi Tuna Poke with a nice taste for $16, Birria Tacos that were an elevated bite for $16 – Everything at the event was displayed for a large group, so I don’t know sizes etc. But the pricing seems like a good value to us. A full-sized burger is $20.

The focal point of Level 99 is a huge bar with fabulous neon rings, it sets the tone for the excellent Vibe. Drinks were great, the menu has absolutely everything you’re looking for. wine is $12 a glass, canned cocktails for $10, and cocktails start at $15.50. And if you want to drink and play, they have pouch cocktails and zero proof as well (zero proof is $13.50, and they were literally the size of my head (not kidding, I wish we had taken one just for the picture)

As I mentioned above, you can walk around, check out the space and the menu for free, and then, if you choose, just eat or drink. And of course, you can decide to play after.

Unfortunately, many of the Challenge Rooms and Games are not 100% accessible.

Accessibility

This is where there’s room for improvement. If you need a mobility device, there is very little you can participate in. If you are colorblind, many of the challenge rooms would be impossible for you as well. Another challenge would be claustrophobia. There’s a button on the screen at the front of the challenge that spells out the accessibility for each one. If you’re wondering if this is a good fit, I would check the accessibility info for several of the rooms. But I don’t recall seeing claustrophobia listed, so peek into the room to see what you think. You can absolutely check it all out before you purchase game time.

Bottom Line

Great food, Unique Activities, Using our Brains and Movement, Very Cool Vibe, what’s not to enjoy? We really did have so much fun, and it’s the perfect activity on a rainy day during your vacation. What do you think? Does this seem to be a good fit for your family?
