Genie+ Priorities at Magic Kingdom

It’s almost time for Spring Break season – one of the most crowded times of year at Walt Disney World, and therefore one of the times when most guests consider purchasing Genie+. In order to make sure you have the most up-to-date information to make the best decisions, we’re updating all of our data-driven Genie+ priority lists for every park. You can also find lists for Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, or Hollywood Studios.

Magic Kingdom is where you have most Genie+ choices – there are 22 different Genie+ attractions to choose from (I’m excluding the parade here since its time savings are difficult to quantify). That leaves much more room for shuffling within the priority list. And it’s the only park where the clear time savings winners don’t have really great satisfaction. But time savings shouldn’t be the only thing that matter – you need to enjoy what you experience throughout the day too!

This post was last updated on February 19th, 2024.

Explain the Math

We can rank the Genie+ attractions in each park in different ways. In this post, I am going to aggregate three of those different measures by averaging them. Easy peasy.

  1. Rank by average availability, ascending – the attraction in each park that usually sells out first will get rank 1, and the attraction in each park that has book now/ride now availability the most through the day will get the lowest rank.
  2. Rank by average time savings, descending – the attraction in each park where Genie+ usually saves the most time compared to standby will get rank 1, and the attraction in each park where Genie+ usually saves the least time compared to standby will get the lowest rank.
  3. Rank by attraction satisfaction, descending – the attraction in each park with the highest overall average satisfaction from the past two years will get rank 1, and the attraction in each park with the lowest overall average satisfaction from the past two years will get the lowest rank.

Once I calculated all three ranks, then I averaged the three results and sorted from score that was closest to one all the way to the highest number. I used those averages to come up with the following prioritized list!

Prioritized List of Genie+ Attractions at Magic Kingdom

An attraction with long waits and early sell-outs is deserving of the top priority.

1. Jungle Cruise

Availability Score = 3 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 2 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 9 out of 22

Jungle Cruise used to sell out the fastest of any Magic Kingdom attraction – often in the early afternoon, but it now is beat out by meeting Arial and Enchanted Tales with Belle, and it only sells out around 5 pm most days. Its time savings though, have been trending upward as the lightning lane guests get prioritized more regularly compared to the standby queue. So with average savings of almost 30 minutes, on average – that’s good enough for second in the park. And Jungle Cruise’s satisfaction scores trended up in the second half of 2023. All of these changes work together to value Jungle Cruise from our 6th priority to the top spot for Spring Break season.

This satisfying classic drops from the top spot

2. Space Mountain

Availability Score = 11 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 1 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 6 out of 22

Space Mountain exhibits decently-high scores on two out of the three metrics. And its time savings have been steadily high  – enough to get it the top spot with an average savings of 35 minutes in 2023. Satisfaction is really good, but it doesn’t sell out until around 7:30 pm most days – which means that there are many other attractions that will sell out earlier.

One thing to keep in mind here, though, is that Space Mountain is very easily rope-droppable if you want to build a strategy for your day around that. Even if you don’t have early entry, Tomorrowland won’t be slammed with people by the time you get into the park, unlike Fantasyland. So you could rope-drop Tomorrowland and use your Genie+ reservations for attractions lower on the list.

The wildest ride in the wilderness is a worthy use of a Genie+ reservation!

3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Availability Score = 12 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 5 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 1 out of 22

We continue our prioritized tour of the Magic Kingdom mountain range with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad keeping its spot just behind Space Mountain! This thematic coaster has the top satisfaction score of any Genie+ attraction in the park (or any attraction/entertainment, besides the thankfully-returned Happily Ever After). It won’t sell out as quickly as some of the attractions lower in the list, but its time savings have been rebounding (average of 25 minutes). The standby queue has been backing up significantly over the past few months, and it’s an uncomfortably cramped and hot wait.

When she isn’t roaming free, you can meet Cinderella in Fairytale Hall … with a wait.

4. Meet Cinderella at Fairytale Hall

Availability Score = 4 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 4 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 12 out of 22

Cinderella is back to selling out the third-fastest of any character meet in Magic Kingdom – including the main mouse himself, who falls lower on the list. Her average time savings of 20 minutes, plus early evening sell-out (around 5:30 pm) and decent satisfaction zoom her up all of the way to spot number four. A fair spot if you’re interested in character meets. Otherwise, you can skip ahead. A few spots.

Hugs with Mickey are always in high demand!

5. Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater

Availability Score = 5 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 13 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 2 out of 22

Mickey Mouse is always in charge, and is always popular. He commands the second-highest satisfaction of any attraction on this list. That combined with a sell-out relatively early in the evening (5:30 pm on average) override the somewhat paltry average time savings of 10 or 15 minutes. If you’d rather not use Genie for meeting Mickey, we can also offer a good alternate option in EPCOT.

It’s not often that you’ll find Peter Pan’s Flight with a 15 minute posted wait. That’s why you might need Genie+ instead.

6. Peter Pan’s Flight

Availability Score = 6 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 3 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 11 out of 22

This always-favorite had previously held 2nd place in our rankings, and then plummeted down to 9th place. Now it’s starting to level out in what is probably a more reasonable rank. If we didn’t factor in satisfaction, Peter Pan’s Flight would be close to the winner on the prioritized list for Magic Kingdom. In fact, it would probably be one of the highest recommendations if we did WDW-wide rankings. But its mediocre satisfaction score drags it down.

If you’re travelling with young kids and using Genie+, it’s a good bet if you all want to stick together for the day. And while you can pretty easily rope drop Space Mountain or Jungle Cruise if you don’t have early entry (especially Jungle Cruise since it isn’t even open during early entry), Peter Pan’s Flight will already have a lengthy standby queue by the time “regular rope drop” happens. If you’re staying onsite with young kids, it’s an excellent first-attraction option. But otherwise you’ll have to find another time to wait for it, or use Genie+ instead.

Use Genie+ to skip the wait! Or, if you have impressionable young kids like this one in 2020 … maybe just skip it altogether. Lesson learned.

7. Haunted Mansion

Availability Score = 10 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 7 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 3 out of 22

Coming in right behind the real heavy hitters and some characters is Haunted Mansion. This fan favorite tends to book up in the middle of the pack each day, a little after 7 pm. And a Genie+ reservation can save you almost 20 minutes compared to standby. That’s a dropoff from the attractions (not characters) higher on the list, but it’s still good for a single reservation, especially compared to options at parks like Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. Satisfaction here is also significantly higher than Peter Pan’s Flight or Jungle Cruise … just beware of taking little kids on this one.

Tiana and Rapunzel have higher satisfaction than their princess meet-and-greet counterparts! And a somewhat lower wait. But that makes them a worse use of Genie+

8. Meet Tiana at Fairytale Hall

Availability Score = 7 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 6 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 8 out of 22

For some reason, visiting with Tiana and Rapunzel has always required less waiting than Cinderella. Here’s your secret clue for the day: Tiana and Rapunzel are awesome. Go bond over beignets and frying pans. It even shows in the satisfaction scores, which are higher for this pair of princesses! Still, Tiana will have more availability and less wait than her next-door neighbor. If you want to use Genie+ for meeting a character, make it Cinderella or Mickey instead of Tiana.

She debuted in the top spot, but Ariel continues to slip into a lower priority spot.

9. Meet Ariel

Availability Score = 1 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 9 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 15 out of 22

Time savings haven’t budged much here. An average of 15 minutes isn’t anything to blink at. But there are 8 other options that will save you more time. The real limiting factor here is sell-out time, which is still earlier than any other attraction at the Magic Kingdom. It still won’t sell out until around 3 pm, so if Ariel is a priority, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to book a reservation. Not into characters? Move along … again …

Another ride photo, another instant Gandillon family classic from 2020. If I had a Genie+ reservation, I would’ve made everyone reride and take another picture …

10. Pirates of the Caribbean

Availability Score = 14 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 8 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 4 out of 22

Pirates of the Caribbean still has totally fine availability, typically not selling out until after 8 pm. And it can save you something like 16 minutes compared to standby, although this varies pretty widely based on time of day and crowd level. Satisfaction is high, but it’s an attraction that you could rope drop (regular rope drop only – not early entry) or save for later at night when it’s eerier anyway, freeing you up to make other Genie+ reservations.

Bonus points for dressing the part!

11. Enchanted Tales with Belle

Availability Score = 2 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 14 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 13 out of 22

A new entry on our list since our last update is Enchanted Tales with Belle. This is the lowest-priority character experience at Magic Kingdom, despite its early sell-out time (on average, by 3:45 pm). That’s thanks to relatively low time savings – closer to 10 minutes compared to standby, and its lower satisfaction score. Still, if your kids loving being part of the magic plus meeting a princess, you can’t beat this option.

Come bounce along with Tigger and … eat along with Pooh?

12. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Availability Score = 8 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 10 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 16 out of 22

Our satisfaction scores are starting to taper off a bit, with our first well-below-average score for Magic Kingdom. Winnie the Pooh is a fun ride, but it’s short in duration and perhaps only really appealing via some form of nostalgia. I qualify for that nostalgia, so I enjoy it. It rarely sells out before the end of the day, but can save you around 15 minutes. So I’ll definitely still count it as a worthwhile option, especially for any Pooh fans in your party.

Pictured: Donald after finding out that using Genie+ for this didn’t save him any time.

13. Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Availability Score =  9 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 21 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 5 out of 22

If you get really really lucky, a Genie+ reservation might get you into a showing of PhilharMagic about one full show ahead of where you would’ve been with standby. I’ve heard of one good example of this. And that was when a big afternoon downpour caused everyone to line up for PhilharMagic to get out of the rain. A savvy reader booked a Genie+ reservation with immediate availability and skipped right around the sudden crowd of drenched onlookers. So … if a sudden downpour creates unexpected demand and you also want to get out of the rain, then go for that Genie+ reservation. Otherwise … don’t. The only reason it achieved this high on the list is because its satisfaction is so high – and that satisfaction score keeps increasing, so PhilharMagic has moved up surprisingly high the list.

Can’t beat two Galactic Heroes in one car!

14. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Availability Score = 16 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 12 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 10 out of 22

Since it’s a omnimover type of attraction, Buzz Lightyear tends to have high capacity and therefore higher availability for Genie+ reservations – it generally doesn’t sell out until after 8:30 pm. But it also generates longer waits, presumably because families keep re-riding, attempting to best one another’s scores. (Or because of reliability issues. One of those things.) Buzz also maintains decent satisfaction. I assume those that score it poorly aren’t Galactic Heroes. A reservation here can save you about 10-15 minutes, which is still a good chunk of time.

As evidenced by the empty seating, a reservation here typically won’t earn you much.

15. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

Availability Score = 13 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 22 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 7 out of 22

Thankfully over the past few updates, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor has been moving down the list, due to increasing availability. It’s available for most of the day, and does not save any time (okay – 2 minutes compared to standby). But once again, high satisfaction helps it not be the lowest on the list.

IF you love Ursula so much that you wore an Ursula mask in 2020 and you ordered a (pretty gross) Ursula float, THEN you might want to make a Genie+ reservation for Under the Sea.

16. Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid

Availability Score = 18 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 11 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 14 out of 22

At Under the Sea, you’ve got almost all-day availability, below-average satisfaction (What?! Who ARE you red-headed princess haters? Make yourselves known), but potentially decent time savings – an average of 10-15 minutes. Realistically, chances are that you won’t really need a Genie+ reservation here.

I have several pandemic-era regrets. Wasting time on this ride is one of them. Look at that white car full of pale skin. Sunburn just waiting to happen. Plus car fumes while masked. The only redeeming thing is that happy child!

17. Tomorrowland Speedway

Availability Score = 15 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 16 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 22 out of 22

Tomorrowland Speedway has the dubious distinction of having the lowest satisfaction of any attraction in Magic Kingdom. Yayyyyyy. And you can get reservations for it even after 8 pm. A Genie+ reservation here will only save you about 10 minutes compared to standby, on average. I highly suggest organizing your park day so that you never even walk past this attraction. Otherwise, the gas fumes somehow call to small children like the sirens of the sea. And you’ll be sucked in and waiting in the hot, mostly un-shaded line. Walking the long way around is totally worth it.

Ride Dumbo, not carpets. Or if you live in the south, imagine a sign with a bunch of carpets haphazardly writing “RIDE MOR ELEFANTS”.

18. Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Availability Score = 20 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 15 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 20 out of 22

Magic Carpets always hovers (it’s a magic carpet joke!) around the bottom of the list at the Magic Kingdom. Unless you go on a crazy-crowded day, wait time savings here aren’t going to be huge. Satisfaction scores are not good. And you can usually get immediate return times for it all day. Here’s the expert-level Carpets hack. Stick your kids in the regular standby line with one adult. Then the rest of you go and enjoy some dole whips while those crazy kids wait out their carpet time.

Please, please let your children ride Dumbo. Please, please, don’t use Genie+ to do it unless absolutely necessary.

19. Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Availability Score = 21 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 17 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 18 out of 22

Even on the highest crowd level days, you can get a Genie+ reservation for Dumbo almost until the park closes. Satisfaction with the flying elephants also isn’t spectacular. Your time savings compared to standby will probably be something like 5 minutes on average. This one is really only worth it if you want to ride in the middle of the afternoon on a crowded park day.

This hippo is my spirit animal.

20. it’s a small world

Availability Score = 19 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 19 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 19 out of 22

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears … no? Did I make it far enough to get it stuck in your head? I hope so. It’s a classic. Sherman brothers at their best. Coming in at second-to-last place is it’s a small world, with good all-day availability and time savings around 5-10 minutes, plus a well-below-average satisfaction score. Small world is typically a pretty easy ride to experience without a long wait if you time it right. Otherwise go ahead and book a Genie+ reservation if you have big fans that want to sail around the world.

Mad Tea Party brings JOY and DELIGHT to the faces of children and adults everywhere. End of story.

21. Mad Tea Party

Availability Score = 22 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 18 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 17 out of 22

The good news here is that Mad Tea Party has the availability all day long. You can basically pick up reservations at any point throughout the day and have a return time that isn’t very far away (often immediate). But you won’t save much time. And you’ll get really dizzy. My anecdotal experiences say that time savings will happen only if there needs to be a … tea cup cleanup and the standby line grows while that important work happens.

One proud rider of the Barnstormer

22. The Barnstormer

Availability Score = 17 out of 22
Time Savings Score = 20 out of 22
Satisfaction Score = 21 out of 22

There is a very, very short period of life where young kids can ride Barnstormer but not really any other “big kid” rides at Magic Kingdom. In this short window of time, the Barnstormer can potentially be a good choice. A bite-sized introduction to the world of roller coasters. Other than that … I have no good things to say about it. It’s a hot, sunny line with a really short attraction at the end of it. A Genie+ reservation likely won’t save you much time either.

What Does This Mean For You?

  1. Keep in mind that any Genie+ prioritization should also be paired with a savvy park touring strategy. A lot of the attractions at the top of this list are also good rope drop (or late-night) candidates, which allows you to not use reservations for them unless you want to ride them more than once.
  2. Magic Kingdom is the easiest park for using and learning Genie+. There are plenty of options that will save you a decent amount of time, so you don’t have to go in with a crazy strategy. And you won’t get frustrated by everything booking up before noon. If you’re on the fence about whether your party would benefit from it or not, try it at Magic Kingdom first.
  3. Character meets have some of the lowest availability of any Genie+ attraction, thanks to low supply of reservations here. They’re good uses of Genie+ if you’re wanting to meet all of the characters. Otherwise, their spots on the priority list are probably slightly inflated compared to attractions that have many more bookable reservations.

Have you used Genie+ at Magic Kingdom? Do you agree with these rankings or would yours be different? Let me know in the comments!

  • Thanks for the update. I think your Genie+ priority articles are about the most useful ones you write all year. My only complaint is that you waited until now to update it. My trip was last month!

  • Love your data posts! Would love to see a post about the best way to do a late start day at the parks. I am a true believer in Rope Drop, but some days you just need to sleep in. It would be great to have a Touring Plan strategy for starting your day At like 11 or 12 to park close and who and what to prioritize etc. either way keep the data coming!! Love it

    • What a good point! It didn’t show up on my list because we didn’t have any timed LL waits from that attractions. I will try to hunt down the data for you.

  • You say “Cinderella is back to selling out the fastest of any character meet in Magic Kingdom,” yet Meet Ariel has is No. 1 for Availability Score. That seems inconsistent to me. Is Meet Ariel not considered a character meet?

    • Good catch! Just didn’t edit that out. Will fix it now 🙂

  • I hope Ariel enjoys her month at the top of the list, as I expect that Tron’s opening in a month will turn Seven Dwarfs Mine Train into the hottest Genie+ attraction on property (unless they want Magic Kingdom to stand alone as the only park with two Individual Lightning Lane rides).

Might be because she has more chores than usual….

I suspect that the chief complaint on Jungle Cruise (as relates to satisfaction) is that it can boil down to location on the boat and the ability to understand the skipper. If you are seated near the rather load engine area it makes even the most articulate skipper impossible to hear. If a skipper is difficult to hear either through their mumbling or faulty speakers it makes the ride a complete bust, and if waiting 45 minutes for that experience isn’t enough to drop satisfaction, I don’t know what would be.

  • Hi! You are So knowledgable about Disney!

I am a first timer going with two girls, almost 8 and almost 11. What are the ABSOLUTE must dos at each park, with genie+ and what should I purchase a ILL for?

    MK
    AK
    HS
    Epcot

Thanks in advance. I want to be so prepared and it’s all so overwhelming!

    Reply
    • The current ILL rides for each park as of December 4, 2022, are 7 Drawfs in MK, Rise of the Resistance in HS, Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, and a Flight of Passage in AK. All of these rides except for Cosmic Rewind can be ridden with a long wait in line. Cosmic Rewind currently requires either a boarding group or ILL to ride. In my opinion, the order of importance for these four would be RotR (but I’m a huge Star Wars fan…if you or your kids are, this should be top priority), Flight of Passage (amazing even if you are not an Avatar fan), Cosmic Rewind (Smoothest coaster ever!) and finally 7 Drawfs (very tame family coaster).

As for must dos… That is really tough to answer not knowing your family’s likes and dislikes. I would suggest buying the latest version of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and read through the ride descriptions and ratings for each park. There are also cut out plans that highlight the best of each park and the best order to do them in.

  • Hi,
    Thanks for the details.
I have understood how to use genie+. I wanted to know if selecting early morning rides first with genie+ is better vs selecting afternoon rides and stacking. If we select early morning rides with genie+ is there a possibility other popular rides are not available to book later.
We would be staying the whole day at magic kingdom so wanted to best utilize genie+

    Thanks,

  • The biggest thing I wonder about Genie+ is if it’s worth it for family groups. Looking at an individual adult is pretty easy, but my group will include 3 adults, a 9yo, (tall) 6yo, 4yo and 1yo. The older kids can ride almost everything, but may be scared. The 4yo can’t ride nearly as many things, but he can ride some, and would therefore need his own G+ pass. Thankfully the 1yo is free. So what makes sense for a party where several users can’t possibly get the “best value,” should we just skip it?

  • Thanks for going to linear regression in all three categories. I think it really is fairer than emphasizing satisfaction scores. Good idea!

However, if you want to satisfy Frustrated Nerd also, may I suggest that you list both rank and score for each category. By all means, use the score to calculate the final list, but let the readers know which is the attraction with the second highest time savings, e.g., without their having to go through the list to determine that Peter Pan’s 3.1 is the second lowest score. (Show its rank as 2 and its score as 3.1, in other words.)

      • I’m flattered by the comparison.

  • This would be much easier to use if the Time and Availability numbers were whole numbers and related to just that Park. e.g. the Time Saved Orders for Magic Kingdom are 1.0 . 3.1 . 5.4 . 7.2 . 9.6 . 9.8 . 12.9 etc. I have to create a separate Spreadsheet just to figure out what the Time Savings and Availability Order is.

  • Becky, have been eagerly reading and watching your Genie+ information the past few weeks as I prepare our family for our upcoming trip May 7th. I have really enjoyed and appreciated it, so than you very much! This isn’t really a question about your personal analysis, but more of the team as a whole as I’ve seen TP’s crowd calendar keep their predictions low (medium levels technically) while the parks are still showing high crowds. Example: Yesterday prediction was 5/10 and actual was 8/10. It’s been pretty evident over the past month that crowds would be much higher during the middle of April to finish out spring breaks and. My question is should I expect higher crowds than what TP has predicted for May 7-14, will you be adjusting those predictions, or does the team think crowds will subside a bit after this week (and stay that way for the next few weeks before Memorial Day? btw, writing this from just down the road in Washington MO

    Reply
    • Oh heyyyyyy, I’m in Washington somewhat regularly! If you know in Strubbergs around those parts, chances are that they are related to me!

I would say … that I am not personally involved with the setting of crowd calendar levels. Sometimes April is more crowded than May thanks to Spring Breaks. Once you get into early May, parents are more hesitant to take their kids out of school since it’s nearing the end of the year, which means testing, and standardized testing, and … unstandardized testing? I don’t want to make any wild predictions that totally throw you off, but I’d say that elevated crowds in April don’t necessarily mean anything for May. On the other hand, lots of folks with easy access to the park are planning trips in early May to do GOTG previews or hope for a soft opening, etc. I would think that wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it might. In general, I’d say trust the predicted crowd levels, but don’t be surprised if they go up by a level or two. 3 or more levels is more rare.

      Reply
    • Great question, I will be there May 11-14 for a quick solo trip and wondered the same. The theme park reservations indicate that crowds are likely to be just as high as April. The 11th is only showing availability for AK, the 12th has availability for MK and AK, and the 13th is the same as the 12th. So I am going with the anticipation that the current crowd levels of “5” for Epcot and HS on the 11th and 12th respectively will be adjusted in hindsight.

Does Touring Plans look at the theme park reservations to adjust the crowd predictions? If not, why?

      Reply
      • We do – but reservations don’t necessarily correlate to crowd levels. Crowd levels are based on wait times, and not on how many people are milling about the park. For example, park reservations were sold out for yesterday, but the WDW-wide crowd level was just a 5 (and we had predicted a 6).

  • “ Because time savings shouldn’t be the only thing that matter – you need to enjoy what you experience throughout the day too!”. And this is what distinguishes you from regular Genie in a nutshell.

  • Becky, love your articles, and especially love the addition of family pix (and clever comments). Thank you for sharing them! Your DD is in love with Ursula? INCONCEIVABLE! Re Haunted Mansion: yes, taking very small children is most likely not a good idea, but one must live and learn. I made the same mistake myself once upon a time. I think the scariest part for my young child was the stretching room, when so many guests were loudly reciting the ghost host spiel, and then screaming loudly when he “escapes the room”. I won’t lie, makes me mad when guests don’t think about or care about impacting the experiences of others, especially families with children. Those screams ruined the experience for us, but now they seem to be “a thing”.

  • Another interesting and entertaining read, but as you say “Let the debating in the comments commence!”

Your decision to use linear regression for the satisfaction scores, but not the others definitely skewed the results with the satisfaction scores trumping the others. If I understand how it works correctly, linear regression pushed Peter Pan and Jungle Cruise’s satisfaction scores from 6 to 8.2. Take away those 2.2 points and they tie with Space Mountain for first place with a combined score of 9. Nevertheless, I can understand using linear regression so that a more-than-minimal difference between the rides in satisfaction is recognized; I don’t disagree with doing it. But there is also a more-than-minimal difference in the other scores too. In your February 23 article, you showed Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan with average Genie+ time savings of over 50 minutes each. Splash was then a little over 30 minutes while Big Thunder was under 30 minutes. That’s a BIG difference. I don’t know how much things have changed since then, but I strongly suspect that, if you used linear regression for time savings as well as for satisfaction, Peter Pan and Jungle Cruise would have finished with the top two combined scores.

Of course, how one prioritizes their Genie+ selections depends in part on what one will do if they can’t get reservations for all the rides they want. If you are determined not to wait in standby lines and cannot get reservations for all the top rides, getting ones for the ones you will be most satisfied riding should be your priority. But if you’re going to ride them all, even if it means waiting in the standby line for the ones you can’t get a Genie+ reservation for, then saving time should be the priority.

    • Ooh, I like this idea of linear regression for everything. And I’m glad someone is paying attention to the details of the math.

I was okay with over-emphasizing satisfaction, because I think enjoying the attractions should always hold more weight than just saving time. But I respect your argument!

  • It’s normally not like me to argue against math, but…

…For a first time visitor, I’m definitely going right for Peter Pan or Jungle Cruise as my first Genie+ options for the time savings and lack of availability late in the day. For repeat visits, I would go with any of the first three and PPF and JC rank low on my own personal satisfaction score.

    • I welcomed debate 🙂

I would say for _first-time_ guests, I wouldn’t recommend they start with Peter Pan’s Flight or Jungle Cruise anyway. I’d focus on higher-satisfaction attractions to learn more about what they’d like 😉

      • I agree with TwoBits – because Peter Pan isn’t worth the long waits in line, it makes it a really valuable Genie+ reservation to me. It is an iconic ride, and all first timers need to do it, but wasteing so much time in line for it is not a good use of valuable vacation time. Same argument applies to Jungle Cruise.

      • Well, it took almost a year, but after reading today’s March 1 2023 update, it seems the math finally agrees with me now!

    • TwoBits, you mean because you’re an Ariel fan, yes?
