In Case You Missed It: Disney News and Rumors – Week of January 13, 2017

In Case You Missed ItWow! So apparently 2017 is already starting off crazy! I’ve been down during Walt Disney World’s Marathon Weekend in the sleet, I took part in the Wine and Dine Half of a Half, and now, I’ve experienced the inaugural Grumpy Challenge of 35.5. While disappointing for those running the cancelled half, it was so inspiring watching those who didn’t have an official race anymore getting out there and going for it anyway.

This week, see when The View will be broadcasting live from Walt Disney World, learn more about Jimmy Fallon’s new attraction, and more.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Disney is hoping and thinking that when Pandora: The World of Avatar opens this summer, it will do for Disney’s Animal Kingdom what Cars Land did for Disney California Adventure.

Curious who will be visiting Walt Disney World as part of the Pro Bowl week?

The ABC talk show, “The View” will broadcast from Disney’s Animal Kingdom for five shows – March 6-10.

Very intriguing, wouldn’t you say? FastPass at Disneyland is getting an upgrade. The new system, which is called  Disney MaxPass, will enable visitors to be able to use the Disneyland app on their smartphones and obtain a digital FastPass. However, there’s a catch.

The new Iron Man attraction is now open at Hong Kong Disneyland!

Jim Hill shares the story of how Pinocchio turned out the be the second animated film released.

Well, it appears the rumors were true. Woody Harrelson IS now a part of the Han Solo movie.

Take a look at some of the characters that will be featured in the upcoming Cars 3. While I loved Cars, I very much disliked Cars 2 and hope that the third in the franchise will be a turn around overall. Plus take a look at the extended preview of the film.

Do you love the music from Moana? Well then you’ll want to make sure experience the sing-along version of the film which heads back to theaters beginning January 20. I’m ready to belt out “How Far I’ll Go” and “You’re Welcome.”

Holy cow! You can’t say 2016 was bad for Disney at the box office. Rogue One became the fifth release to make over $900 Million in Disney’s record-setting 2016.

This is the end. This month we say goodbye to Girl Meets World. It’s been fun revisiting life with Cory, Topanga, Shawn, and more. Personally, I think it would be interesting if the series made the jump from the young Disney Channel to the more adult Freeform. I think it would be interesting to see how the characters could grow and develop in that type of creative atmosphere. Disney….are you listening? This would be the perfect show that could grow with its audience. Much like Boy Meets World did. *Hops off soapbox*

So…the new Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon attraction will involve pizza…interesting. Also interesting is his story about the attraction overall. If it’s not him joking, that’s a totally fascinating story! I can say I’m intrigued. What about you? (Oh and it opens April 6!)

I’m really surprised and disappointed that this blog has not covered the MaxPass announcement in a full post, instead choosing to link to another article in this ‘in case you missed it’. This is a huge deal and marks a landmark change in Disney’s recent upcharge trend by announcing charging for fastpass. Other blogs had posts up right away on Wednesday when the Disney Parks Blog announced it. I expected more analysis and opinion from touringplans on this.
