Wow! This weekend is tapped to be a busy one! You have Cinderella in theaters, St. Patrick’s Day festivals all over the country, and lots more general fun! What are you looking forward to this weekend?

In this week’s In Case You Missed It, there’s lots of movie news, lots of details from the Disney shareholder meeting, plus what could be rumored for Innoventions at Disneyland, and more! Read on to find out everything you may have missed!

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Have you ever wondered how MagicBands came to be? This fascinatingly in-depth article takes a good hard look at some of the behind-the-scenes process that went into the creation of this brand new system. Really, if you read anything I’ve shared in this post today, make sure you read this article!

Yesterday was the Disney shareholder meeting and of course, three big pieces of news came out from that. The first as that a Frozen sequel is absolutely in the works. I think we all knew that was coming. No matter whether you have Frozen fatigue or not, it’s pretty obvious that Disney would be foolish to not make a sequel to that movie. The second is the name of the first stand alone Star Wars film, as well as the date for Star Wars Episode VIII. The third is courtesy of an awesome 6 year old who got accidental confirmation from Bob Iger that yes, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be getting a name change. (Can we have this 6 year old get Iger to accidentally spill the beans on what other changes are in store for Disney’s Hollywood Studios…or whatever the name will be? I think we all want to see what’s clearly coming for that park.) What are your thoughts on all the great goodies dropped at the shareholder meeting?

Have you heard that Innoventions at Disneyland is closing on March 31? Rumors are running rampant about what could be coming to that space. Here are just a few of them. What do you think is happening with this under-utilized space?

If you eat gluten-free, then Walt Disney World or Disneyland are really great places for you to visit. Disney prides themselves on having options for guests. See how to best eat a gluten-free diet in this post from Yahoo.

Looks like those in the finance world are on board with Tom Staggs likely becoming CEO of the Walt Disney Company in the future. See why some aren’t worried about the upcoming transition of the position from Bob Iger to the unannounced future CEO, likely to be Mr. Staggs.

With Cinderella being released into theaters today, let’s take a look at “7 Facts You Didn’t Know About the 1950 Original Animated Film.” Which fact is most interesting to you?

I get more intrigued about this movie each time I see information about it. Inside Out looks like it will be an emotional (get it…) joy ride. If you missed the most recent trailer, here it is.

What did I just see?! That’s how I felt while watching the Tomorrowland trailer, but in a very good way. Forbes takes an in-depth look at the trailer and what the movie may entail. What are your thoughts of this very secretive movie?

So, apparently Tim Burton is tapped to direct the live action Dumbo. That should be interesting.

The article about MagicBands, though clearly part of a Disney full-court press on how special they are, contains a few interesting facts. The most damning one, to me, is that Disney wasted over 8000 square feet immediately adjasncent to Toy Story Midway Mania — presumably the very same space that ride will now be expanding into — to house a bunch of engineers and consultants who could have been in any office space anywhere in Orlando (or anywhere else, for that matter). From possibly as far back as 2008, they spent what could have been valuable show space on long-term R&D, in the middle of an underpopulated park.

That says a lot of things about Disney’s priorities and planning ability, but not *good* things.

I noticed that statement too. Thought it was very interesting that they chose to utilize that location for the testing and consulting. (Also explains why nothing was done in that location for years prior, which I think many have wondered.)
