In Case You Missed It!

Whoo hoo! Friday is here! Let me tell you…it couldn’t get here soon enough!

Are you ready to dive into “In Case You Missed It” with me? I’ve got lots of fun…like details about the upcoming Pixar short, Lava, a fantastic look at the Walt Disney Pictures logos through the years, and much more! Make sure to let me know your favorite article in the comments. (Or just comment on anything…I like hearing all of your thoughts too!)

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

I’m sure by now, you’ve seen the latest rumors…that Disney will be likely opening a Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant in the location of the former Adventureland Veranda and Tinker Bell’s Magical Nook. What are your thoughts on this development? As for me, I’m super stoked, but then again, my brother was a Jungle Cruise skipper at one time. I really hope this one comes to fruition and gets announced officially soon.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge have received the Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation yet again. Congratulations to the park and resort because that is a big honor.

Hmmmm… something going on at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in relation to a new entrance? Rumors have indicated that this could be possible and photos recently found may help to prove that the rumors may be correct or that it may just be related to the other potential work going on for the park. Hmmm indeed.

Magical Express will see a behind the scenes change. Find out what it is.

Well this one made me tear up; Peter Pan had a very special encounter with a young lady. Tell me you didn’t get a little something in your eye too after reading this!

If you are a member of D23, a bunch of new events were just announced for Orlando! I would love to see The Parent Trap one, but I’m not sure I can make it. 🙁

USA Today shared a great article about how cruising can be educational. I personally am a testimonial to that being true. As a kid, I was able to go on a couple of cruises (one was on The Big Red Boat…who remembers that?) and was able to learn so much about other cultures, visit a rainforest, see how cocoa was grown, plus more. The cruises I took are some of my fondest memories that I have from growing up. If you are thinking about taking a cruise ever, do it because it’s amazing how much both you and your child can learn!

Are you a gamer? See what Disney has in store for the future and how it’s turned a fledgling section of the company into an extremely lucrative one.

Have you ever wondered about the Pixar shorts? The director of the upcoming short Lava, Jim Murphy, talks about the process and what made him decide to animate a story about volcanoes, and more! Plus you can hear the song from the film!

Is Mulan one of your favorite films? Here are “13 Things You Didn’t Know About Mulan (or likely didn’t know about Mulan.) Were there any you didn’t know from before?

This took a LOT of work. A complete depiction of all the different opening “Walt Disney Pictures” in montage form beginning with The Black Cauldron all the way to now. This is really so cool to see all in one full swoop.

This week riders were rescued from The Incredible Hulk coaster at Universal Studios Florida. Also in Universal news, for the week, they also added metal detectors outside of Rip, Ride, Rockit. Thoughts on all this?

What did we miss? Attach your ideas to a copy of A Wish Your Heart Makes: From the Grimm Brothers’ Aschenputtel to Disney’s Cinderella (seriously…why hadn’t I heard of this book until this week?) and send it to with the words “In Case You Missed It” in the subject line.

I remember The Big Red Boat! If I am thinking of the right company my brother was a Music Director on one ship. We had a great time. Thanks for the fun article!

Sara! That’s awesome if your brother was! It was a great and fun ship at the time, from what I can remember. (I was 8…so….memories are hazy.)

I am ALL for a new entrance to Studios. What a mess. I came into the park later in the day once and was directed down a row only to find that they had miscounted and there were no spots left in that particular row. I had to drive all the way back out of the lot to the road, then back in the entrance again.
