In Case You Missed It: News and Rumors – Week of April 27, 2018

Are you ready to have your movie-going mind rocked? Who is going (or already has gone) to see Avengers: Infinity War this weekend? Let’s take a guess at what the final domestic weekend box office will be….

This week, see what new Millennial Pink item you’re going to want to try and share on Instagram, learn when Big Hero 6, the TV series, will be airing, and more.

In Case You Missed It – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrated 20 years this past weekend. USA Today shows us how the park has changed according to Joe Rhode.

Dinoland U.S.A. is finally getting a remodel….but I don’t think it’s the one we’ve been looking for. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Donald’s Dino-Bash is not a temporary event for the summer. Apparently, it’s a permanent addition for the park.

Looking for the next Millennial Pink craze? It’s a new beverage found at Amorette’s Patisserie. Will you be heading over to the Disney Springs shop for one?

The Disney Dream scored a perfect 100 during an inspection that took place earlier this month. This is the 12th time in a row that this has occurred.

Jeff Vahle has recently been named president of the new title, Disney Signature Experiences, which oversees Disney Cruise Line, DVC, Adventures by Disney, as well as  Aulani – A Disney Resort and Spa.

I think Disney is starting to get the message. (Hopefully.) We, as fans, want unique food and merchandise options like they offer in places like Tokyo Disneyland. If they still haven’t realized it, maybe the incredibly long lines for the Alien popcorn bucket that came out this week is a good indicator for them.

Interesting. The Disney Store is working to phase out plastic bags. Reusable bags are currently being offered at check out for $.99. (Which explains why I was asked if I wanted to buy one this weekend when I made a stop at my local mall.) This does make me wonder though, as we move forward…once they stop offering plastic bags, what if I don’t want to purchase a reusable one? Am I stuck just carrying my merchandise around bagless?

One of the interesting things that Disney will have to figure out with the Fox merger…how to handle smoking.

That’s the way, they became The Marvel Bunch.

Big Hero 6 The Series is coming to Disney Channel on June 9.

Universal had another great quarter with its theme park revenue increasing 15%.

Get ready to get more Fast and more Furious. A new animated series about the franchise was ordered by Netflix.

What? Guillermo del Toro has joined with Dreamworks Animation in exclusive deal to write, direct, and produce films.

Here in the Uk we have a plastic bag tax. So for every plastic bag used when shopping cost us 5p. I have a lot of reusable bags that I use for my shopping and I make sure I have at least one in my bag and the rest stay in the boot (trunk) of the car for when I need them. Its certainly helped here in the UK for cutting down on plastic waste and Well Done to Disney for doing their bit too!

Although I love the Disney plastic bags (I wondered when they would be phased out) I think I am going to love the 99c reusable bags even more and I do want to help with getting rid of single use plastic. I am also from the UK and am used to taking my own bags shopping. When we first visited USA the shopping in the supermarkets were put in paper bags but I have noticed that they are now put in single use plastic bags. Once you get used to using your own bags it’s like second nature taking them when you go shopping. I even carry a folded fabric bag in my handbag (purse) for the purchases I didn’t know I was going to make when I set off from home! If Disney charged for single use plastic bags (as shops have to in the U.K.) I am sure there would be a decline in their use.

I love the idea of Del Toro making animated films. He is capable of producing a unique style for the DreamWorks brand. Can’t wait to see what he brings to the screen–and presumably to Universal Orlando’s third (non-water) park.

Regarding the epic lines to buy popcorn buckets, those are the eBay pirates doing that, not guests…

Just visited Santa Fe, New Mexico where plastic bags aren’t given with purchases. And yes, you walk out of the store with an armload of items . . .

I’m from Germany and we have to pay for plastic bags as well. I carry 2 bags in my handbag everytime, so when I go shopping, even in the supermarket, I can use them. On our last trip to Orlando we tried to use our own bags while grocery shopping and the cashier didn’t know what to make out ouf it.

They could move to paper bags. They may also do the $0.50 credit per bag you bring thing that some stores do.

My wife has these collapsable bags that roll to the size of a tennis ball, but roll out to the size of a large Disney Store bag. They’re awesome.
