“The company that once re-created an African savanna in Animal Kingdom or a park dedicated to science, technology, American industry and global culture in Epcot, is looking more inward when it comes to its theme parks in 2019.” This quote came from a great and insightful article from the L.A. Times. What do you think? Do you like the IP being put everywhere or do you enjoy the ideas of the parks having their own identities. Personally, while I understand that people connect with things they’ve seen already, in the form of IP, the things that many think “make a Disney park what it is” are distinctly not based on IP, like demonstrated in the quote. I just wish we could have a mix of both, but for a company that only feels comfortable creating that next sure thing, it disappoints me that they find it too risky to do that. (This goes towards their movies too. Definitely not just relegated to the theme parks. I have thoughts….lots of thoughts…..)
