We recently mentioned that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (BBB) inside Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom was under construction. In a further development, Castle Couture is now being used as the check-in location for the Magic Kingdom BBB. The check-in was formerly housed inside the actual Boutique, inside the Castle.
Starting now, future knights and princesses and their parties will begin their BBB experience at Castle Couture, entering at the door closest to the back of the castle on the Fantasyland side.
The BBB makeover (makeup, hair, changing into princess or knight clothing) will still take place inside Cinderella Castle. A Fairy Godmother-In Training will escort guests to the Castle, after the check-in process at Castle Couture is complete.
There are several signs with arrows along the temporary façade of the building. During our visit, there was a cast member stationed at the exit to Castle Couture explaining the changes.
Castle Couture used to house the largest selection of princess fashions in the Magic Kingdom. That bounty of glittery gowns has been relocated just across the walkway to Sir Mickey’s. If you’re facing the back of the castle with Prince Charming Regal Carrousel directly behind you, Sir Mickey’s is on your left. This new merchandise spot has a few improvements from the old location at Castle Couture. For starters, it’s much roomier and has better lighting.
Another new aspect of the costume displays was a large selection of swords, two kinds of shields, and one cape; good costuming options for children who don’t want to wear a glittery gown. It doesn’t sound like much when you see the vast array of princess regalia, and truly it isn’t, but it’s better than the offerings of the past. We also made note of an adult dress selection that was both gorgeous and totally impractical for Florida weather until after Halloween.
As always, anyone can shop like a knight or princess even if they aren’t planning to visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
