Mickey Mouse Club Cupcake Is Nostalgia on a Plate

We’ll admit it, with all the changes coming to Walt Disney World these days (new lands, new transportation, new hotels, new restaurants) sometimes we get a bit nostalgic for old school Disney. It was just such a mood that made us buy this Mouseketeer’s Cupcake at the Main Street Bakery (Starbucks) in the Magic Kingdom.

Just look at the classic ears topper. Hits you right in the feels.

The base is supposed to be a blend red velvet and yellow cakes, but we just tasted generic sweet. The topper is giant glop of icing with solid chocolate disk ears.

Eating this cupcake is a messy proposition. The paper cup is sturdy, which means you have to get your fingers covered with frosting to remove it. And the dark icing is intense enough to turn your teeth black for while. We suggest eating it with a fork and placing the icing toward the back of your mouth if you want to avoid the pirate look.

Despite these drawbacks, the classic look and messiness give it a comfort-of-childhood vibe that’s certainly welcome these days.

Is today Cupcake Day for your Mickey Mouse Club life? Let us know in the comments.
