Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Touring Plan

It’s September so you know what that means, HALLOWEEN PARTY SEASON at Walt Disney World. The scorching heat of the Summer isn’t even gone yet but it’s time to start making your game plan for these separately ticketed happenings. I can’t help you out with your costume but I can walk you though a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party touring plan. This plan works for everyone but is made with parents with small children in mind. I should also mention that this plan focuses on the treats, character meet and greets, and special Halloween party entertainment.

Step 1: Enter the party and head to Adventureland

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party officially starts at 7 PM, but guests attending the party can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4 PM. To keep things simple with this plan I’ll start at the beginning of the party. After you enter Magic Kingdom at 7, pick up a Trick-or-Treat bag as soon as possible. Begin your tour in Adventureland. Tarzan and Jane will be meeting to the right of the bridge as you cross into Adventureland. Jafar will also be meeting in the gazebo next door.

Be sure to get a picture with Cinderella Castle bathed in spooky colors.

Step 2: Meet the gang from Aladdin and grab some treats

Make your way towards Magic Carpets of Aladdin and queue up to meet Aladdin, Abu, Jasmine, and Genie. After that put that trick or treat back to work by getting some candy from the spots near Enchanted Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise.

Step 3: Go to Pirates of the Caribbean and meet Jack Sparrow

Captain Jack Sparrow will be meeting across from the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance. There’s also a candy spot in this area.

Step 4: Go to Frontierland and watch Boo to You parade

Go to Frontierland and look for a good spot for the 8:35 PM Boo to You parade. One of the best, if not the best, parades at Walt Disney World. Good spots can be found on either side of the walkway stretching from Peco’s Bill’s to the Country Bear Jamboree. If you have extra time, Frontier Trading Post in Frontierland has special Disney pins for purchase or trade.

Step 5: Go to Splash Mountain and get more candy

After the the parade make your way to Splash Mountain. Ride it if desired (there probably won’t be a long wait). There will be two candy spots in this area, one near the entrance of Splash Mountain, and the other near the exit of Big Thunder Mountain.

Step 6: Head to Liberty Square Riverboat for more candy and characters

After you arrive at Liberty Square Riverboat you’ll see a candy spot at the dock, and a Tiana meet and greet near Hall of Presidents as well as The Witch from Snow White.

Step 7: It’s Haunted Mansion time

Ride The Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square. It’s Halloween so it’s pretty much a requirement. There’s also a ghostly photo op available in front of the Mansion featuring the ghoulish Madame Carlotta and Madame Rinata.

Step 8: Go to Fantasyland for more meets and treats

Your first stop will be a candy station near Peter Pan’s Flight. Next head to Gaston’s Tavern to meet Gaston. After that go to Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid for another candy stop and a meet and greet with Ariel. Need a refreshment? There’s soft-serve ice cream flavored like candy corn at Storybook Treats in Fantasyland (it tastes exactly like candy corn!).

Step 9: Even more candy and characters at Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Time for another candy stop inside Pete’s Silly Sideshow. Also, Cruella de Ville should be meeting guests near the Fantasyland Train Station. Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas should be near the Storybook Circus Tent.

Step 10: Get ready for Happy HalloWishes fireworks

Head for Main Street and find a place to sit while waiting for the 10 PM HalloWishes fireworks. A good viewing spot for the fireworks is somewhere on the bridge between Main Street and Tomorrowland. You’ll also be able to see the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and Celebrate the Magic shows if you head to Main Street now. But if it’s more candy that everyone wants, continue on to Fantasyland after the fireworks, and catch Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular later. If you have some extra time, The Emporium on Main Street sells special Halloween party merchandise (Magic Bands and t-shirts). Also, if the candy isn’t enough for you there’s special cupcakes for sale at Main Street Bakery.

Step 11: Plunder Tomorrowland for all its candy

After entering Tomorrowland go to the entrance of Stitch’s Great Escape for a candy stop. Then go to Tomorrowland Speedway for another candy stop. Your bag should be bursting by now, but don’t stop! Go to Carousel of Progress for yet another candy stop and a Buzz Lightyear or Lotso meet and greet. Before moving on there’s one more candy location near Space Mountain. If you need a break between all the candy, Mickey’s Star Traders in Tomorrowland has MNSSHP t-shirts.

Step 12: Obtain obscene amounts of candy at the candy trail between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland

There’s a path that runs between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, roughly behind the Tomorrowland Speedway. Enter the path behind Space Mountain, between Space Mountain and the Speedway. This is one of the best candy stops in the park.

Step 13: Leave

At this point I assume you’re carrying around enough candy to last you and your family for several generations, but just in case you need some more there’s usually one more candy “top-off” station right before you exit the park.

As Brian mentioned earlier today, this is one of three touring plans was have for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Check out the other three here. Let me know in the comments section what you think about the plan. Also be sure to leave any tips for MNSSHP that you’d like to share.
