Parking Fees Increase at Walt Disney World

2014-02-18 09.11Parking fees at the four Walt Disney World theme parks have increased across the board. In addition, valet fees at the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels have also seen a price increase.

At the theme parks, parking has increased by $2. Here is the new breakdown:

  • Automobile, taxi, limo, or motorcycle: $17 (up from $15)
  • Camper, trailer or RV: $18 (up from $16)
  • Bus or tractor trailer: $21 (up from $19)

Do keep in mind that once you pay that rate for the day, you may utilize any of parking lots at any of the four theme parks (just show your receipt). Also, keep in mind that if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, your parking is complimentary for the length of your stay and valid resort identification is required for the privilege. Annual Passholders also have complimentary parking.

In addition, to the theme park parking fees increasing, the valet fees at the resorts have also gone up. The new rate is now $20 per car. It was previously $15. Valet parking is available at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge resorts.

As with the theme parks, once this parking fee is paid, you are allowed to use valet parking for the entire day at any resort that offers it, without having to pay the fee again. Simply show the day’s valet receipt at the next resort.

  • I live in the city and I am very much used to high parking rates. The difference is that in the city – Property values are extremely, high, space is limited, and parking garages are often an independent business. So I don’t think its a fair comparison.

    The other factor Disney should consider is that high parking rates can easily discourage someone from coming by for special dinner at one of the hotels or make a day-trip to the parks unaffordable. It begs the question as to whether more parking revenue will negatively impact other revenue.

    It doesn’t impact me since I always stay on-site but I confess that I’m a little turned off by the numerous announcements, in recent weeks, of price increases – whether its dining plan, tickets, or parking.

    • You can self-park at any of the resorts for free for a couple of hours. This would take care of the dinner situation.

  • I drove into NYC recently (big mistake) and they wanted almost $30 for the 2 hours I needed.
    Local parking meters where I live are a quarter for 15 minutes, but there’s a couple hours’ limit. Airport parking is pretty steep, too.
    I haven’t paid to park at WDW since 1986. So if it’s pure corporate greed it seems to me Disney is finally catching up to everyone else’s rates. Oh well, grousers gotta grouse, I guess.

    • I recently spent a few days in San Francisco with my wife and the cost to valet park our car at the hotel we were staying at (Omni SF) was $54 a day. Luckily we were using mass transportation to get around.

  • This is just absurd. Pure corporate greed. It does not “cost” Disney anywhere near $17 to direct you where to park and run the trams. $20 is more than a reasonable person will pay for the valet luxury. Record profits and they keep doing this: greed.

    My wife’s prediction (with which I agree): Tables in Wonderland will soon lose valet privileges.

  • Last summer, we stayed at AKL-Jambo, and they told me their valet rate was $20, so I thought that was already the valet fee. Is this another instance where the rate depends on the season?
