The 2015 Holiday Season Will be the Last Year for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
After 20 years of delighting guests, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights will be ending at the end of this year’s holiday season at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This popular event will see its final curtain call due to upcoming construction and the change of direction occurring within the park.
The event allows guests to marvel as they walk along the Streets of America, gazing up at the beautiful lights, made even more spectacular when they start to blink and dance to the musical tracks. It is a must do holiday event.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights started modestly in Arkansas as each year, Jennings Osborne and his family set up an elaborate collection of holiday lights. Over time, the collection of lights grew until 1995, when the lights were brought to Walt Disney World Resort and have remained ever since. The lights started in the park on Residential Street, however, when Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show was introduced, the spectacle was moved over to the Streets of America.
To celebrate the seasonal event, Disney will be holding 2 special dining options for guests to experience. The first will be known as the Merry & Bright Dessert Party, where guests will be able to enjoy holiday-themed desserts while being surrounded by the incredible light display. This option will be available from November 6 through December 30.
The second option will be the Merry & Bright Dinner Reception, which will feature small bites including shrimp, beef, turkey, plus beer, wine and specialty beverages. This will be available from January 1 through January 3.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights will be shown this year from November 6, 2015 through January 3, 2016.

Oh no – this was on my wishlist for next year! Hopefully something equally stunning will be announced for the holidays at the studios.
This is an amazing attraction and I’m so glad I got to see it. I understand the change though and with Star Wars and Toy Story become the focal points for the park I’m hoping for a Star Wars nighttime (fireworks) event and maybe an overhaul of Fantasmic to make it Toy Story themed will be on the horizon. I love the old stuff but am an optimist for the new stuff.
Oh what a shame. We saw it for the first (and now it seems the last) time last December. I am so pleased we did see it though as it was absolutely amazing. Might have taken even more photos or video if I had known. I suppose life must move on – let’s hope it’s moving on and up.

I’m so glad I’ve seen it quite a few times, but wish I had known that the last time was the LAST time. 🙁 It was always a must-visit for us during the holidays.
Doesn’t mean that there will not be a major Christmas light display in the future.
It may not be from the Osborne family, and it may not be on Streets of America, but given its overwhelming popularity, it’s not hard to figure that there will be a similar event, once the Studios expansion works its way out.
I have always wanted to see this and I’missed SO glad we were able to book a trip this year! The changes coming are very exciting but it’s kinda sad we have to say goodbye to some of the little things. That said, i’d much rather have star wars land over the Osborne Lights; I’m just glad we get to see it before it goes.
Booked this years trip around the Halloween and Christmas parties. This will be the first (and now last) time to see these lights. I HATE Christmas, but my family will hopefully love them. Any guesses what the dessert party will run to?
