Universal Crowd Calendar Report – December 27, 2015 to January 2, 2016

Last week, the only surprise of the week was New Year’s Eve. Historically, the Universal Parks do not have the extreme crowds that we see at Disney Parks on the same night. This year, crowds were significant. Overall the Universal Crowd Calendar did a good job predicting the crowds last week matching the post New Year’s Eve dip on Friday then the bounceback on Saturday.
Let’s look at how the crowd levels stacked up each day last week on the TouringPlans.com Universal Orlando Resort Crowd Report:

Sunday began a streak of extremely crowded days last week at Universal Studios. Only Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at 35 minutes did not hit a level ’10’. At Islands of Adventure wait times very very high as well but not quite high enough to hit the top level on our scale. |

Thursday ended a three day streak of both parks hitting a crowd level ’10’. The extreme wait times at Islands of Adventure on New Year’s Eve were particularly surprising. Last year that park hit a crowd level ‘6’ on New Year’s Eve. |

Happy New Year! As is the case most years, we saw New Year’s Day wait times a little lower than other days during the week. This is likely from a “morning after” effect from the previous night’s celebration. |

This week is the last week of the peak holiday season. In fact we expect crowds to return to moderate levels by the end of the week.
