How Crowded Was Universal Orlando Resort Last Week?

Last week, Islands of Adventure continued to lag behind its sister park which pulled down the resort wide crowd level a few points lower than history would suggest for the last week of July. The Universal Crowd Calendar did a great job predicting the crowd level at Universal Studios missing by more than one level only once.

Crowds lagged well behind historical averages on Sunday with Islands of Adventure much less crowded than a typical Sunday in July. There we saw average wait times like 23 minutes at Dragon Challenge and 41 minutes at The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

Predictions hit the mark at Universal Studios on Monday thanks to average wait times like 50 minutes at The Simpsons Ride and 69 at Transformers: The Ride-3D.

More busy crowds at Universal Studios on Tuesday and although Islands of Adventure was two points lower than predicted by the Universal Crowd Calendar the park was still very busy. Average wait times were 66 minutes at Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and 43 minutes at Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

Wednesday brought the third day in a row at a level ‘9’ for Universal Studios, as predicted. Meanwhile Islands of Adventure sat tow points lower, once again.

Thursday brought average wait times like 24 minutes at E.T. Adventure, 26 at Revenge of the Mummy, 38 at Rip Ride Rockit and 41 at The Simpsons Ride.

Wait times were close to what the Universal Crowd Calendar predicted for Universal Studios on Friday but Islands of Adventure was much less busy than expected. Jurassic Park River Adventure averaged 38 minutes (predicted 45) and The Cat in the Hat averaged 15 (25).

Saturday’s crowds were similar to what we saw all week at Universal. The Universal Crowd Calendar overpredicted by one level at both parks.

July 31 to August 6, 2016

August will bring more busy summer crowds to Universal but as we head into the middle of the month crowds should start to subside.
