Universal Crowd Calendar Report – March 1 to 7, 2015

Last week, Universal Orlando Resort saw wait times much lower than history would suggest for the first week of March. Guests who visited the parks were lucky to experience crowds that may end up being some of the lowest we see all spring.

Sunday’s wait times were 8 to 12 minutes lower than expected at most attractions, especially at Islands of Adventure. Dragon Challenge averaged 6 minutes (predicted 22) and The Cat In The Hat averaged 7 (22) but Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey averaged 33 minutes (predicted 22).

Both parks hit only a level ‘2’ on Monday despite the calendar predicting a level ‘5’. Wait times were lower across the board with the exception of Men in Black which averaged 12 minutes as predicted.

Tuesday (and Wednesday) marked the lowest crowds of the week with wait time averages in the lowest ranges that you’ll see all year, certainly all spring. Islands of Adventure was particularly uncrowded with average waits like 8 minutes at The Hulk.

Wednesday’s crowds were equally low. The Hulk averaged 7 minutes while Forbidden Journey averaged 18 minutes – about as low as you’ll ever see.

Level ‘2’s across the board on Thursday with no attraction averaging a posted time higher than 30 minutes other than Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem at 38 minutes.

Friday saw higher wait times but not significantly so. Spider-Man and Forbidden Journey had the highest average waits at 27 minutes.

Saturday’s predictions were the closest we had all week with both parks showing crowd levels more in line with what we would expect for early March. Still, crowds were manageable with no attraction averaging a wait higher than 50 minutes.

March is Spring Break season and although we saw very low crowds last week we expect that wait times will pick up this week as more and more school districts take their annual break.
