Happy holidays again from Epcot’s World Showcase! During my recent visit to see this year’s Holidays Around the World events — including the Hanukkah show at the American Adventure — I also stopped to see some seasonal celebrations not devoted to Judeo-Christian holy days. As you can see from the videos below, the 2014 Epcot Kwanzaa celebrations and Moroccan holiday performances are every bit as entertaining and educational as their Christian and Jewish counterparts:
The Story of Kwanzaa (2014 Epcot Kwanzaa Celebration)
The Epcot Kwanzaa celebration is held in front of the American Adventure pavilion, in the same spot as the the Hanukkah show, which it performs immmediately before or after.
The musical show explains the non-denominational African American cultural festival, and ends with an interactive sing-along.
The Spice of Life (2014 Epcot Morocco Holiday Celebration)
The holiday show in Morocco is called “The Spice of Life,” and uses seasoning as a metaphor for the many inportant holidays and feasts observed in that region, including Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan.
This show also has an audience participation dancing component; your enjoyment may vary according to how much seaonal cheer you’ve imbibed in your way around the world (as you can hear the guest standing near me clearly had.
