Walt Disney World Newsworthy Notes – 11/13/15

Happy Friday all!  I’m back again with a quick update of important news that may impact your next Walt Disney World vacation. Take a look!

  • At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Guests can meet some of our characters dressed in seasonal attire. They include:
    • Donald Duck in DinoLand U.S.A
    • Mickey and Minnie Mouse on Discovery Island
    • Chip and Dale at Rafiki’s Planet Watch
    • Baloo and King Louie in Asia
    • Santa Goofy in DinoLand U.S.A
  • Spotted hyenas are beginning to be able to be seen on Kilimanjaro Safaris.
  • On November 19, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Guests will have the chance to vote on five to six videos for America’s Funniest Home Videos inside of Premiere Theater at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Guests participating will need to be at least 9 years of age or older to vote, and all Guests who vote will receive a free AFV t-shirt.

  • Guests may have the opportunity to see the new scene for Star Tours beginning early next week, though it will officially roll out on December 1.
  • At Disney Springs, the parking areas are going to be renamed after Floridian fruits. The lots are:
    • Strawberry – O, P, Q
    • Watermelon – M, N
    • Grapefruit – L
    • Mango – K
    • Orange Garage – West Garage
    • Lime Garage – East Garage (opening in spring 2016)
    • Lemon – A
  • There has been a change to the schedule for The Electrical Water Pageant. It will start about 30 minutes earlier on Thursdays and Fridays through December 18. The new times are as follows:

    • 8:30 p.m. – Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
    • 8:45 p.m. – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
    • 9:00 p.m. – Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
    • 9:15 p.m. – Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
    • 9:45 p.m. (after fireworks) – Disney’s Contemporary Resort
    • 10:05 p.m. – Magic Kingdom Park
  • Disney has introduced a new line of Disney-branded snacks and treats to accommodate requests for dietary alternatives called Snacks with Character. These alternatives will include treats from Ocean Spray, Enjoy Life Foods, Way Better Snacks and WOW Baking Company and are expected to handle these particular dietary restrictions:
    • Gluten-friendly
    • Nut-friendly
    • Milk-friendly
    • Vegan
    • Non-GMO
  • Beginning December 4, children ages 3 to 12 will be able to experience new Children’s Activity programs at Lilo’s Playhouse at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Sandcastle Club at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Young Guests will be able to enjoy several new activities including cooking classes, zany lava experiments, enchanting character interactions and dinner.
